Congratulations and good luck with your IVA.

I can understand you being scared. When I faced up to my debts I can remember being really scared when it hit home that there were no cards any more, not even for emergencies. Even now 2 1/2 years later I sometimes have a bit of a panic when it's getting near to payday and I'm hoping I've got enough to put petrol in the car. I soon get over it though when I realise that while there might not be much in the bank what's in there is all mine!

It is hard at first, wondering what on earth you've let yourself in for and facing the future without a safety net. Not to mention still dealing with all the feelings of guilt and failure. It does get better though, you'll learn to adjust to a new way of living and those feelings will subside.
Anything new is scary at first, you'll soon get the hang of things and settle into it.

Hi, It can feel scary and sometimes you wonder how am I going to get through it, but like the others have said there are positives and you will reach the other end.

I'm not saying it will be without difficulties, especially when the unexpected crops up but at least with this forum you get the support and guidance to get you through. That goes for personal issues as well as debt. The people are here are remarkable and there's normally someone around 24/7.

If you get time read some of the blogs, they give more of an insight and you may even want to start you're own [:)]

The main thing is, you're not alone xx

Even though my payments once I pay over overtime bonuses etc will be not far off what I was paying before. I will have paid back very close to 100p in pound after 5yrs.
What gave me the kick up the backside was that if i had continued with those payments I was making pre IVA- I would have cleared the debt when I was in my sixties!!!!
Which would mean still having to sustain my present income till that age/ be forced to work if I have children etc. With the IVA even though it may be tougher it will mean I am finished at an age where I can have children/not go back to owork, enjoy retirement and give me so much more freedom- which is priceless for me
