IVA Accepted

Well after a awful few nights sleep its been accepted .No modifications and i think the worst is waiting for it to be voted and sorted at the creditors meeting..You expect them to say No >>Then you start thinking about Blood from Stones and what you will do if its not accepted ! So many thoughts go in your mind.Still not quite sure how we got in this mess but as we have moved a lot in our marriage from house to house allways through work.. I can only say its got to be that as moving house is very expensive especially if you loose the amount we lost moving here.I am so pleased its sorted and its a big relief i know i asked a few dodgy questions before and i am sorry for asking but we did have a friend who had a IVA many years ago and he had to go to a solicitor to get his signature witnessed and also he had to travel for over 3 hours to a creditors meeting in london i remember it well as his wife refused to travel..Things must have changed and it all seems to be very speedy now..Ours has been sorted in exactly one month which i consider to be quick..So bring on the next 60 months...I am sure it will have highs and lows but we dont live a very extravagent lifestyle so it wont be much of a change except we wont be robbing Peter to pay Paul..Or living off a credit card for extras i wont be having a credit card ever again..We will actually be better off on a IVA than we have been for the last 2 years ..So thank goodness their is such a thing as a IVA.

I know haw you feel, I'm better off than I have been for a long time, although not having the back up of credit is a strange feeling.

Since my approval, I've tried to be in more control of my finances, even checking bank accounts on-line every few days and keeping a spreadsheet and religiously filling it in. I never realised I could collect so many till receipts....

I dont think i will be filling a spreadsheet in but everything will be budgeted as xmas is round the corner so some pennys need to get saved for that..But i have allready said it will be a low key xmas as its just a waste of money anyway..It wont be taking over my life i will just live within our means .As long as we have food and utilitys then we are no worse off than anyone else and a lot of people in the uk are now so poor they are going to food banks fortunately we allways had food..Debt is a very stressful thing to have in your life it creeps up on you and swallows you alive ..The banks and credit card companys still keep giving people credit though often too much .I know they add extra on to cover themselves for IVA and bankruptcy as a family member works in that area so i dont feel to bad about the whole thing and we will pay most of it back anyway.. ..Just a relief that we only have to pay one person each month which is the iva company..

Thank you it is a relief i can sleep again and try to get on with every day things without a black cloud hanging over me..5 years is a long time but we would have been paying some of our debt longer than 5 years so its not so bad and their is light at the end of a murky tunnel..Being on a pay freeze for the last 2 years hasnt helped ..And i cant even say i am extravagent it can happen to anyone so i am just happy its sorted and glad i am not in the 2 % whose IVA doesnt get accepted you never hear what happens to those they must dissapear down a murky hole...LOL..Allthough LOL isnt very funny in this case...

Congratulations. The next few weeks might be a bit of a rollercoaster as things settle down. Many of us go through a few emotions, once the relief passes --- but, it's not long before you settle into the new way of doing things. Remember, if you hit any speed bumps along the journey, communication with your IP / case worker is paramount, and we are always here for a giggle, moan or query

Congratulations!! We had our accepted on Friday. It is a strange feeling. I expected lots of calls and mail but nothing so far.

Accepted with no modifications! That has to be a rare occurance these days - which IP firm are you with as a matter of interest?

DFD They have been brilliant from start to finish my husband works in a job where he might come accross people struggling and he said he would allways reccomend them.Its been less than 28 days from start to finish .we have the equity release clause written in but because of our age then it will probably be a extra 12 months paying as we wouldnt be able to get the equity and pay it back before retirement age..We would get the equity out now and pay what we owe but they wont let us have it..The worst thing about it all for me is i hate this house so i am going to have to live with it for at least 6 years thats my punishment in all of this..So i may as well find things i can do to pass the time..
We are not thieves we are both honest and my husband has only had one day of sick in 38 years of his working life and we did try to sort our problems out ourselves..But its so hard when people say NO..The help isnt their when you get in a mess unless you want a loan with eye watering interest attached .

I wonder how they manage it. We always get creditor modifications of some sort, and I suspect other IPs do as well. Glad you have had a pleasant experience, as DFD often are criticised on the forum, so it is nice to see a balancing post for a change.
