No,You are definitely not going mad! i took my ever growing stepdaughter clothes shopping the other wk with strict instructions-primark only!(now that were on a budget)then after we went to costa coffee as a treat.she only wanted a coke.but i couldnt believe it £1.40 for a small bottle! all i kept thinking as i was queuing up was its only 55p for a big bottle in asda! then there was the car park fee.£4!! i broke into a sweat as i was getting the coins out of my purse! i hope im not turning into a miser[:p]!

[:)]i also think that you can become a bit obsessed.everytime my poor oh goes to tesco without me i do him a detailed list & after every item put "tesco's own" i hate it when i cant go with him cause i like to be in control of every penny thats being spent!! but when you know that you've got xxxx amount for the month & thats it,no more,no money to magic into the bank,or mr.visa to help you out,it makes you very very careful indeed! & there's nothing wrong with that...oh dear i sound like a right scrooge[:I]

Oh Ray, I want to give you a big hug. I'm glad your wife is ok now, and she's lucky to have you. I can believe that the call centre wouldn't let you have time off as I had the same problem. My died and they didn't want me to take any time off as they were short staffed. I was signed off with stress and when I went back they made my life difficult. I really can't understand why people have to be so nasty. Keep posting on here - as the others have said we love you x

I too resent spending money I will walk from out side the town rather than pay car parking, I try to have 2-3 days most weeks when I don't spend any money and take a delight in doing so. I love finding a bargain and get a real kick out of it. Am I miser yes I probably am but better that than be in debt again.

And I enjoy the reassurance of having notes in my purse and knowing that it is my money is wonderful. I do feel a little jealous when the girls at work are talking about their holidays to far flung places and my holiday is camping with 18 kids but my holiday is paid for in cash and not on credit card and having to be paid for for the rest of the year.

Jan
Nothing you can buy feels as good as not being in debt.

im exactly the same jan! i love counting how many days ive gone without having to have spent any money, and feel great if i have just a £5 note or even a few pound coins in my purse. And it doesnt bother me one bit that we didnt go abroad this yr.i know so many people who went on holiday all courtesy of mr.visa.last yr we went abroad and i spent the whole time worrying about every penny we were spending & how many credit card statements would be waiting for me when we got home!!! it was awful..never again[:(]

When I went abroad last year, before IVA, we lived on our overdraft! You can imagine our shock when whilst away and knowing we had got paid and overdraft to zero, it was withdrawn!!!! Things are so much better now!

Our last holiday was December 2005 in New York, booked and paid for on the plastic, and most things bought on the plastic!

I'm looking forward to my first holiday post IVA which will be financed solely by cash without worrying about overdrafts and credit card bills.
