Well i would not have imagined the feeling we currently have today, IVA was approved this morning only 15 mins into the meeting before i had the call, we got into so much trouble paying cards off with yet more cards, and when we took the step to call someone we thought that was the end, what did we spend it on!!! anyway 26 Creditors (i know its alot, you just dont see past the bills each month) and all of them voted and agreed without any changes, yes all of them! (except fees) so our lives can become a little normal again. We know it will be tough but we are just so glad that we have our house and our family and a brighter future to look forward too. i want to thank all your guys on this site for which i have spent many a late hour reading posts and advice, and also a great thanks to Andy @ VB who was my first contact when we bit the bullet to make a call, his advice which was free and non judgmental gave us the courage to look at our problems and address them. Our thanks go out too the team at Mel Giles & co, Tina, thank you for staying on the phone while i could not speak due to the tears and helping us through the start of our journey, Thank you to Tamsyn, Gareth, Marc, Sue C, and Sue P, without their help and very experienced manor on how to make sure the proposal was the best we could offer, i feel we may have not felt so confident what we were doing was right without them all. We were always made aware it was not a full proof decision but were always left that we know we are doing the right thing and paying as much as we could back and that we had our case in the best hands for our future. Thanks again Team, here is the start of the next 5 years, and what a feeling it is. At the start of the process i put £5 a week away in my draw (driving a little better to save fuel) all for the result of our meeting so we would have enough for a nice family dinner at the all you can eat chinese or a bottle to drown our sorrows and face loosing our family home, well we are going to dinner tonight after 12 weeks of saving and walk home jolly and stuffed all hand on hand, on a school night too. i will post a blog of our journey so far for those that think like we did and are beyond help, there is a light and its now very bright. Great site guys and thanks again to all who post and the IP's that give up their time to post advise to us that need it but cant afford it...
Took The plunge and made the call, changed our family life and we have never been happier. Debt free and wont go back..... IVA was by far the best thing we ever did to teach us the real value of Family and money

Wow, what an amazing, honest & uplifting post, one of the best I have read on here.. I am so glad you have reached the start of the IVA road, hopefully I am just a few weeks behind and have chosen the same company as you, the non judgemental support they offer is the difference between coping and not on some days.
All the best again !
Mike

We are so pleased for you and it was a real pleasure speaking to you in that first chat - which doesn't seem that long ago!

Its easy to try and reassure people that one day the world will feel differently but you've got to get there to believe it I guess.

I wish you both the very best of luck on your new journey and keep us posted on the forum from time to time as to how you are getting on.

:-)

Thank you iami for that post, we too have chosen to go with Melanie and my first call too was to Tina, and we now have the lovely Tamsyn as our case admin, both have already been submitted to my obsessive nature of needing to ask the same question twice cos i have to make sure I understood it :)

I am so glad you were approved and I don't blame you for eating that chinese...yum, well done.

Congratulations in-a-mess-indeed, we have only been in ours for 6 months but it has gone so quickly,
We didn't do anything to celebrate when ours was confirmed looking back now I wish we would have, as all I can remember of the day is the phone call to tell me it had been approved.
If life is what you make it, I must have been in a strange mood when I made mine
