That really messes things up for you RC. What other choice do you have now? £80 pm is a lot of uplift

especially for just his IVA. we have discussed it and are looking at two options. No 1: brother can buy house to clear our mortgages and we rent it back, go into debt management and apply for IVA at later date. No 2: go into debt management and reapply for IVA at later date. Fundamentally i think we have made a decision to get rid of the house, although not sure if bro would want to get lumbered with it when little equity anyway would be ideal scenario so we would not have to move, but risky for bro with housing market as shaky as it is! will know more after discussion with bro tonight

Rollercoaster, dont accept if the uplift is too much for you to manage. Is your company advising on possible solutions for you and the best way to go.

ang. they were alright actually and assured me not to try and hold on to my house with little equity if it was not the right thing to do. if my IVA had been approved i probably would have accepted the mods on OH to have peace of mind but as mine was rejected it throws up loads of new questions including the afford ability/feasibility of my prospective DMP. going to advise them tomorrow that we don't accept mods and go DMP for both of us. have another go at IVA at a later date.At least that will leave us with options on the house.

PS. all the other creditors on mine voted in favour, just MBNA who rejected and they held 50%.

Rollercoaster, I'm really sorry to hear your proposal was rejected by MBNA today, please dont loose heart, there will be a solution out there for you.

During this week, I had felt really shakey about our proposal so I logged onto www.bankruptcy.co.uk, as I was so worried about what we'd do in the event that our IVA was declined. It really helped me understand exactly what the process would mean, and put in perspective that it wasnt as bad an option as I first thought, should the IVA have failed. I did'nt feel anywhere near as scared after researching Bankruptcy. It amazing how scared we can be of the unknown!

If you havnt been on the site, when the time is right for you, I would recommend you look at this even if just for the knowledge the other solution vehicles out there.

We've all made the hardest choice of 'Owning up to ourselves' that there is a situation that needs addressing. This isnt easy, but what counts now is being able to make informed choices about the solutions rather than have them made for us.

I hope this helps and I wish you the very best of luck with whatever you plan to do. Keep your chin up!

Sincerely
flowerpot
