My husbands IVA was approved at 10.00am this morning. Needed some minor adjustments to the proposals but mainly things we were aware of thanks to this site, but I think had been missed out of the proposal.
Offering was 0.44p in £ on a debt of £46,000
Will post more details on who voted when I get the paperwork through, but no-one voted against.
Creditors were GE money, Nationwide, RBS, Mint, Argos

I still can't believe that on 20th Dec we were so worried.

First payment of £450 is due end of March

Five years and we can start to live again !!!!!

Great news Jannette, time to relax a bit. In a way you will start to live a bit more now. Life is so much better without the dread of the postman or the phone ringing. Brilliant.

I am so impressed. As I said previously our IVA was approved yesterday at 10.00am. I got home today and we have received the chairman's report !!! Excellent service from our IP !
All voted in favour apart from Argos who didn't vote. Their debt was £2k
Our creditors are:
Nationwide
RBS
Mint
GE Money & GE Capital who used a company called Max Recovery Ltd;
The value of these creditors came to £41K

I haven't heard of our IP's compnay before "Simple Debt Solutions" I am wondering if they are a fairly new company and haven't many cases on their books which enables to move in such a swift way. But I will certainly be recommending their professionalism and swiftness of service.

Congratulations Jannette! I think I may give Simple Debt Solutions a call. My initial contact with my IP was November and we still don't have a creditor's meeting date!!! Getting depressed and worried again! But you're proof that there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Hi Flowers

I know this is a difficult time and there is so much conflicting information but you asked about Synergi on another post. At least 4 other posters plus Melanie who is a forum expert advised you to get a second opinion. Far be it from me to tell you how to conduct your affairs but trust me when I say it was good advice, not just empty words. It doesn't matter who you contact but please, for your own sake, do it quickly. As I recall, your second payment is due soon and I would hate to see this money wasted because you were unsure what to do. Synergi have not had a good word said about them on this forum. Any Debt Management company or Insolvency Practitioners worth their salt would post on here as this is where we discuss the good, the bad and the ugly. So why no posts from Synergi? Because they want people who are not aware of this site so will unwittingly agree to their terms.
Please contact somebody. It doesn't matter if its Simple Debt Solutions, Melanie Giles, Thomas Charles, Finebridge, Accuma or any body else who posts here. Just call one of them before you commit to another payment.

A concerned wellwisher

Dave
Regards

Dave

flowers when you get your proposal from them it is written in under nominees fees that you agree to pay them so much £3.5k before the iva is accepted so if it fails anything you pay them is theirs, i didn't realise this until it was too late and apart from the fact i didn't understand all the different jargon i just wanted and end to my dilemma so lose 1 payment and go with someone else they are always in a win win situation you are not, if you could see the list of charges i have been charged from them its unbelievable even to the day of the creditors meeting they charged me £65 to telephone me to say it hadn't been accepted don't be afraid to walk away as you will be the loser if it doesn't go through
sorry to scare you but to be forwarned is to be forarmed

That's great advice Kerri - and I really think that you should go back to the Insolvency Practitoners Association and demand they look into this for you.

thanks melanie any advice i can give about this company i will do so gladly, unfortunately at this time i cannot discuss anything to do with the complaint against them as this is one of the stipulations from the IPA, if i am to be found discussing the compalint to any third parties etc they will withdraw so i am being quiet on that one at the moment, the only thing i can tell you is that the information they have requested was all verbal and by telephone and need specific dates which obviously can't remember all but have put into a diary as best i can, will let you all know the outcome once the investigation has taken place or if their is to be a tribunal which they said would be very public and my affairs would be published, don't know if that is suppose to frighten me. they actually seem more interested as to why i was told a dmp was not feasible?

We were very cautious before we committed to any debt management company and I bet they got pretty cheesed off with the fact that we didn't agree to go with them. But when we contacted "Spencer Hays" it was a matter of hours before we were put onto an IP from "Simple Debt Solutions". Bearing in mind our original contact with Spencer Hays was 20th Dec and Xmas was in between the proposal was at the court on 31st Jan and creditors meeting 19th Feb. Everytime we sent some paperwork to them we had something back from them the following day.
I must admit though having been part of this site since then that if I had met the likes of Melanie and others I may have been tempted to go with one of the companies on the site. But give this company their due they have proved to be excellent and I am sure that they won't let me down in the future.

Thanks for all the advise! I'm really am pleased to be in a position where people actually care! It is so hard as I want to give Synergi the benefit of the doubt as I just want this nightmare to end! However, I promise to seek alternative advise TODAY! I'll let you know how I get on.

thanks again to all!!!!

Flowers

I have not had any dealings with Synergi but have been through Kerri's ordeal with her, it has been hell for her. You state that you want to give Synergi the benefit of the doubt but the longer you stay with them, the harder it will be to pull away. My guess is that if you stay with them summer will have come and gone before your creditors meeting and then you will have paid what? and will have to agree to what? just to get it to go through. This process is hard enough for the end user to endure, why give these people money to make it more difficult? You have all your paperwork ready so why not give T charles a ring to see what they can do? Its up to you at the end of the day, at least you will be making an informed choice, Kerri and the others now heading for BR were not as fortunate.

i wish you the best of luck in whatever you devide to do.

Hi everyone. I'm pleased to say that I have followed your advise and have got an alternative opinion! It is a relief although very daunting to have to start the process from the beginning. However, the advise that I have received was great and the person I dealt with was very helpful and understanding. By chance I also received a call from Synergi yesterday afternoon who advised me that my file was back at the beginning for some amendments and additional information. I was under the impression that I was about to receive a meeting date!!!!! I asked the question - and their reply was that I MAY have a date set for April as March was "fully booked". I was also informed that my contribution sat around 33p in a pound - when we started the process it sat at 37p. AND - that my contribution had increased (without my knowledge or concent) by £60!!!!! And that's even before a Creditors meeting!!!! Imagine - all that I have read about on this Forum is happening to me as we speak!!! Anyways, its really opened my eyes and I'll be calling the other IP on Monday!!!!

Good weekend all. Only 4 days to payday!!!!!
