Since then we have kept our noses clean, both got credit cards but with minimal balances on and with mainstream lenders, Halifax and tsb. All payments on mortgage and credit card never late. On Saturday I checked our Equifax report and it still shows us as having had an Iva, albeit settled. This seems really unfair as that could put off potential lenders. Is this right?

The IVA should be removed from the credit file on the 6th anniversary of the start date. As it is already marked as settled they should have already had the paperwork and so should remove it on request, but migth want copies of the completion certificate and final report.

While you are at it --- have you also checked Call Credit and Experian, along with the Insolvency Register itself ?
