Hi All,

In 2009 my wife and I went through a full and final IVA. We received our certificated of completion on 25th August 2009. However, our credit files still show the IVA as ongoing and the Insolvency Register is also showing the status as “current”.

I've contacted credit reference agencies who told me to contact the insolvency service. I did that but they told me "The Insolvency Service deals only with companies in compulsory liquidation and individuals in bankruptcy or in a debt relief order. As your enquiry is regarding an individual voluntary arrangement I am unable to help".

So what do i do now ?!? :(

As far as I know, the IVA will stay on your credit record for 6 years from it's commencement, but I would have thought that it would show as satisfied. Maybe worth having a word with your original IP about this, as they should have contacted the Insolvency Register uponn completion I think.

Not sure about the register but you do realise that your IVA will show on the CRA records until six years from the start date, regardless of when you finished?

when you completed your IVA your IP should have sent a copy of the C.C to the IPU and they will deleat it within a week or two, as it was taken out before 2010. Go back to your IP and kick a stink up. If the refuse to help I have the IPU insolvancy registars managers name and direct telephone number! But only ask me if you get stuck as I don't think she'll appreciate me putting on public display

I'll contact Melanie and try to get it sorted.

I know it'll stay on my record for 6 years but my concern is that it's still showing as ongoing. Not satisfied or completed. When i look up my details on the insolvency register that also shows it as ongoing when i've been informed it should be marked as satisfied with them too.

I only noticed this last week when i was going through a credit check to rent a house. The agency said told me that i have an ongoing IVA and have to provide proof that it was completed 2 years ago.

Mel is extremely thorough and I am sure if it's her team you are with, they will have dealt with this through the appropriate channels when your IVA concluded, it seems to me that for whatever reason the Insolvency website have failed to act on the information, I would just give Mel's team a quick ring and find out, as for the CRA, perhaps you need to send them a copy of your completion certificate?

IP Should have wrote to the insolvency service, they should then delete your details from the insolvency service.

Your credit file should then be updated to show the IVA as completed on a specific date. Again the CRA would need confirmation of this from the insolvency service.

It's very important that you get the IVA marked as completed with the CRA because until such time they are told it will remain on your file. Possibly forever!!! Unless they are told.

Once told however, the IVA will remain for a minimum of 6 years and then drop off automatically.

Defaults drop off 6 years from when they were first registered, on your file this will be shown as Initial Default Date.

HTH

From hearing about the IS Register and website over the past 12 months or so, I gather that it works ( or doesn't ) in fits and starts. They seem to get everything done right away for a couple of months and then it stops entirely for a couple !!!
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

Does the IVA drop off 6 years after it's been marked as completed ? If so, i'll be furious that i've spent the past 2 years with it showing as 'ongoing' when it's not.

I'm really not getting very far with my IP

The IVA drops off your credit record 6 years from the start. It will be removed from the Insolvency Register as soon as the IP informs them you have completed.

Hopefully it's being sorted now. Spoke to someone in my IP's office who is sorting it urgently.
