Sorry to hear that. It's not the best feeling in the world when you have had yoir hopes set on the IVA.

It doesn't mean you can't do anything else as there are other options which I would suggest to look into. DMP is an informal arrangement where the debt is paid at an affordable rate until cleared with interest and charges negotiated to be frozen.

Bankruptcy is also a solution available so I wouldn't settle with the failed IVA as your only way out.

Hope you get things sorted soon.

So sorry Anne - as Sheraz said - there will be a solution out there for you. Speak to one or two more companies and seek advice.

Sorry to hear this --- I would also suggest a DMP, at least for the time being, while you regroup and look at your options. Stepchange might be worth a chat with as DMP's are "their thing".

The first step is to get the debts under control Some kind of payment plan can be set up for the time being. An IVA may be a possibility in the future, but there is definitely help available now.

Don't fret about catching up or paying back what you have missed. Talk to someone about a DMP to give yourself some space.

As shocking as it might seem, £30k is a modest level of debt in this day and age.

We started a DMP with £80k debt and then did an IVA.

A DMP sounds appropriate at this time and in a few months when the dust has settled you could propose another IVA. This is actually a lot more common that you might think and we regularly propose IVAs from debtors who have existing DMPs.

Online calculators are only a guide and are often way off the mark as they cannot take into account all of a persons circumstances ... you need to have a chat.
