It isn't really just about a linked in profile- anyone can now see your bankcrupt/ in an iva by just typing your name into Google! This is so damaging to people- I know the info is on there anyway but before you had to go into the register and look for it.

Just seen this and I'm now sick with worry. Can this be legal to display such information? is there anyone on here with a legal background who could confirm whether or not this is legal.. What about the Data Protection Act? This account is seriously damaging and I am at my wits end now as to what to do next.

At this point you can only do what I have suggested (other than not contacting the company as that would confirm your details).

I have complained to the ICO stating that the published information is misleading (an IVA is not the same as bankruptcy) and will publish any response but other people need to complain to the ICO as well.
IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.

The difficulty is that most of the information is in the public domain - may hinge on whether it is regarded as new or intrusive use of technology for which the data controller should have understood the impact.

I have sent a complaint in to Nominet, who the domain registrations go to, saying the domain/website was set up with malicious intent using a false address (appears to be an NCP CarPark). I will post any reply I receive.

I am also very concerned about this - there is no longer any record of my IVA on the insolvency register as my IVA is complete yet this website shows as a bankruptcy details - coming soon and date of discharge N/A. I will also be complaining
IVA started Jan 2012
Last payment made June 2014 @100p
Completion certificate received Sept 2014

Feel free to amend based on your own circumstances:

I am writing to report a concern about the above.

I cannot complain directly to company as 1) they do not yet provide company information about themselves on their web site and 2) if you do contact them that means you are confirming that details about yourself are accurate (in part).

The owner details of the website is
Jared Fischer
3rd Floor
45 Jamica Street
Glasgow
G1 4QG

I am currently in an IVA and fundamentally accept that there is a level of information in the public domain linked to what is a matter of fact.

This company claim to be a "free research tool for bankruptcy data and metrics".

However, this is a new and intrusive way of republishing individuals data with no apparent concern about the privacy impact and is also fundamentally misleading - an IVA is not the same as a bankruptcy and despite their disclaimer that they take no responsibility for the accuracy of the information they are providing information that is having a negative impact.

I accept that information can be found about myself within a certain context but this company has also obviously paid for their company profile to be raised as 1) this is coming up against Linkedin entries and 2) if you do a web search for "bankruptcheck company" it is bringing up people's names randomly anywhere in the country as part of their marketing strategy.

There are no indications that they are registered as a data controller in the UK but may be registered in Germany.

This appears to be defunct. I have also found the same address on their website but trying to send does not work.

We are not on this website thankfully but I'm watching this thread in horror for those that are! Having looked at the website you can even search by first half of a postcode - giving you instant access to peoples info in any area you choose!

I hope it's taken down soon as this info being Google searchable like this is plain wrong and could be very damaging for people.

IVA approved Aug 2008 - 6 year term - last payment made 6 Oct 2014. CC received 14 Nov 2014.

The auto response doesn't really inspire confidence
Says they won't act until you have complained to the company first
Catch 22
Makes me think the company know they can get away with it
Not sure what they are getting out of it apart from malicious pleasure
