Nevillebunny,
I'm more inclined to think it was some sicko/wannabe pretending to be the website owner for kicks, sadly. I believe it was the fact that everyone reported the sites and used the google links to report non compliant sites, the mass of requests will have been acted upon by google and the hosts, we live in a society of litigation, the path of cheapest resistance is the correct one for corporate organisations where it is all about££££ It's why firms accept IVA's as a preference over BRU
Create site,
Publish site half complete
Get noticed here
Finish site stating not required to comply with data protection act
Finish site stating section how to remove public info
Relevant sections of law not complied with identified
Site owner changes registered contact details to different name and country
Mass protest to internet do an registers and hosting companies and search engine
Threat of legal action
Google reacts to mass reports
Web hosts react to mass reports,
Site shut down by hosts (not author is my guess)
Bing and other sites harder to report inappropriate links
Alleged Author comes on and says they chose to shut it down,
Offers to publish apology
Doesn't share real contact details
No apology on site published
No contact details
Cached links still remain on bing etc
If I was the author I would t have posted on a site where my IP address can be tracked, I only would if it was for misdirection or I wasn't the author, I would be hiding so for below the radar ready for a knock on the door.
Admin of this site now have a post from someone alleging to have broken the law, I hope they as a duty to protect this site pass on the details of those posts to the authorities and indeed the insolvency service to investigate. If the posts were someone pulling a prank pretending to be the author they might be wondering, oops !
The beauty of the internet is everything is recorded appropriately. Which can be bad as this thread demonstrates, but can also be good in bringing those to justice where appropriate.
