I thought nowadays, video conferencing was the way to go, we use those all the time to save the expense of travelling abroad, and my company is growing and has increased sales so it isn't hurting them by doing this.

If life is what you make it, I must have been in a strange mood when I made mine

No company credit cards, were only a small firm and sometimes were required to travel abroad and pay for all our expenses and claim back.
Do you have any idea how much it costs to take an additionaal 200kg to Dubai and back????
Roughly 3k per flight. thats 6k return plus accom and meals.
This is the way the company do things, yes we all want company credit cards but the flat answer is absoloutly no
Still doesn't make sense that any company would operate like this. You would be bringing in, what, £1800 on 27k after tax. How can any company expect you to find 8k! They would basically be forcing people to have credit?!?!
I appreciate there is no company credit card, but what would happen if you didn't have a big enough limit on your credit card? They can't expect everyone to have a large credit limit.
What I'm trying to say is they must have some sort of contingency in place.

i think what welch is trying to say is he hasnt been made to find 8k a month because company reimburses him so he isnt personally trying to find it
but my opinion would be find a new job because it really isnt helping you by the looks of things!
If I could find another I would, sadly my industry has taken the biggest hit for years lately, hence my salary dropping 53k.
By the way yes your right, finally someone who understands what I mean
I understand the company reinburses you.
What we are trying to say is that even though you know you will get your '8k' back when you claim, its a tall order to expect someone to pay it out upfront!
To be frank, I cannot see the difference between your employer reimbursing you a £10k expense bill after it has been incurred rather than beforehand - unless of course they are facing their own financial difficulties, in which case you want to be careful that you do not end up the wrong side of a liquidation as an unsecured creditor of your employer.
I would never expect any of my employees to fork out of their own pocket for expenses - whether it was £8 or £8,000.
I have travelled abroad for my firm before now and flights and hotels were paid for beforehand. Even when I had to stay over afterwards (unexpectedly) the money was funded to my credit card account so that I could pay the hotel bill.

Agree 100% with this, if they know you are going to incur a fixed expense like a flight or a meal then THEY should pay it. You are taking a huge risk. I've been paid back expenses before but we're talikng less than a hundred pounds for petrol and a meal...
