Hi and a very warm welcome to the forum.

If the people call and the debts aren't in your wife's name then I doubt they would talk to her anyway. Any debt collector who calls refuse to engage in conversation with them and definitely don't let them enter the property.

I would give any calls that you take the IP's details and ask them to converse with them direct, I used to, it didn't stop any calls but I always used the same script.

I wish you well in your IVA journey and hope it's a smooth one.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Welcome John...I too am very new to this process and dreading the calls/letters that others have mentioned on these forums.

One thing you could do is change your number or if with BT then sign up for "Anonymous Call Reject" as some companies dont release their number and therefore will be unable to ring yours.

In any event your partner wont be able to speak to your creditors.

Others reccommend having the name of your IP and their details to hand when you receive calls...then simply give the caller those details and tell them to liaise with your IP.

Regards

Hi Jon. Your partner will be fine as your creditors cannot discuss any of your details with her under data protection laws. If they telephone she should ask for a name and number to pass on to you or give a time that is best for you to take the calls.

In the unlikely event that a creditor calls at the house she can just do the same but this is very rare. If you speak to your creditors and explain about your partner they are generally sympathetic. Give the creditors your mobile number and best time to call and they will usually ring you at the appropriate time. Ultimately, creditors just want to know what the situation is and if you keep them informed there should be no problems. Good luck with your IVA.

Hi all, just wanted to say that my husband & I are currently in the process of applying for an IVA & are just waiting for our proposal to come in the next couple of days.

We haven't paid our creditors since the beginning of July and when the first loan/credit card payments became due at the beginning of August the phone rang non stop for about a week. We decided to speak to all of them and explain our situation. They were all very kind & updated their records and we haven't had one single phone call since!

The letters have continued to come though & we have forwarded these onto our IP.

Hope this helps with anyone worrying about the calls.

Well today I received my final document (Northern Rock loan update) required for my IVA proposal to hopefully be put together or at least move on a stage.

Unfortunately have also discovered that someone else has needed to take on my case now...so in three weeks I have been assisted by Tina, Angela and now Marc.....looking forward to hopefully Melanie catching sight of it in the near future lol.

Anyway onward and upward and fingers remain firmly crossed that I may soon be looking at a complete proposal.

Good luck all.

Don't worry - I keep an eye on all of my staff but they do have different roles within the team. Unfortunately Angela has had to take time off to look after her very poorly mother, hence the fact that Marc has stepped in to cover. I am personally following your case - as I do with all of my clients.

Hi jonmitch, I'm at the same stage as you, gathering information for Vincent Bond. I had a nasty experience yesterday with one of my creditors, but now I've just unplugged the phone!

Thanks Melanie.....sorry to hear about Angela but families come first and I have no doubt Marc is on a steep learning curve with my case and will be fully up to speed in no time at all.....especially after the flood of emails I have just forwarded him that I have passed to Angela.

Please relay my best wishes to Angela for her Mum.

I have just posted my first round of information off to Melanie's team, rather large package lol. A few more bits to arrive to fill in the gaps. House valuation set for next Tuesday....still haven't got my docs back from the ex firm ;(

Love to Angela and her family.
