Thanks for the info pog. Have you had much hassle from creditors....this will be the first month we have missed payments so not sure when the wrath of Barclays, NR and the credit cards will start.

we managed to pay all debts in July prior to contacing Andy, so we have now missed AUG and SEPT. I changed the home number so thats peaceful and also avoids friends and family being subjected to calls from creditors! Lots of call on mobile mainly from EGG, CAHOOT and RBS. Barclays have been great, no calls to date just letters reminding me of my debt to them!
Gosh.....life is so much easier!

Pennyless - I don't know if this is any help to you but Melanie Giles was my husband's IP - (same firm as Susan) - my husband's IVA was difficult for a number of reasons - 7/8 firms told him "no chance" - Melanie got it all through on first attempt including educational costs. As for creditors they were a pain - one called 29 times in one day! However, we were lucky - we have a macaw and he sreached down the phone - they never bothered after that experience for his screach is far louder than any whistle. J

I suppose the calls are a nature of the beast and as long as they are civil and not threatening I wont have a problem with them, after all they have to try and get their money back......but will have the little tape recorder switched on incase they decide to try a bit of hard persuasion or threaten to cut the heads off my dandelions:-)

I felt the same Pennyless, I owed them the money and I talk to them, mind I did talk at them as I had a script and wouldn't go off script so they had no choice but to listen, my script included everything they needed to know re my pending IVA and who my IP was etc., I think they were fed up with me by the end of th conversation let alone vice versa.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Mercers were rude, threatening and damnright disgusting - swear words the lot - but Melanie, I believe, made a formal complaint and we obtained a written apology from Barclays. J

Max, the macaw is a better guard dog than a German Shepherd - he could take a finger off a grown man in two seconds and will attack anyone who comes near me. His beak is as sharp as a cut throat razor. When Mercers threatened to call we told them to make certain they brought a casualty doctor with them for Max would be out of his cage! They never called. Its a shame Mercers could not improve on their Customer Service.....they may actually find that their customers are more responsive.

You are right there! I believe from what I have read that they are changing slightly- the staff are paid by what they can recover that is one of the problems. I hope all goes well for you and your proposals. J

Well a bit of good news today, N Rock have agreed to put me on an Interest Only mortgage as of 1 Oct 09 (temporary for 12 months), so another step closer.

Good news on your mortgage Pennyless, as for timescales & creditor hassles, we first approached Melanie at the end of May, its taken a little longer than I thought but its best not to rush things that way you get all information correct. We were waiting for a Barclay loan settlement figure for a while I recall.
We sent letters to all our creditors telling them what we were proposing, only one replied (MBNA) the others didnt even agknowledge receipt. Barclays even called me on my mobile telling me they havnt got my letter even though that was the only way they could have got my number lol. (it was on the letter)
Hassle from creditors hasnt been to bad if I am honest,(apart from Mercers) at first we had a few calls, the longer its gone on the calls have got less which seems strange, but I make a point of talking to all creditors & telling them of our predicament, theres not much they can say after you have told them why you are trying to propose an IVA, & our alternative is BR.
BTW, we stopped paying all un-secured creditors from the start, that was our choice, some asked for token payments , but we told them that they werent the only creditor & couldnt treat them more favourably than another creditor & they accepted this.
Our meeting is on Thursday 24th September & I am hoping that will be the start to a debt free life.
Good luck with your proposal Pennyless & keep in touch.
Kind Regards, MP

IVA accepted 1st October 2009

Thanks Mike...I'm trying to get everything together for Angela as quick as possible. This morning I woke up at 3am and lay awake worrying about this and that...infact truth be told I wake early every morning and although I do feel a lot less stressed to have the support of Melanie and her team, I cannot help but worry.

Still find it hard to believe i could of let myself and my family down so much but I have to concentrate on making things right.

Good luck again for the 24th Mike.
