You're on the right road Cath, it will be sorted soon and you couldn't be with a better team.

By the way Cath even though my meeting is on fri, I even rang Tom today to make sure we were still on track...in fact its the second time I've asked him the same thing since last fri and got exactly the same reply. How impatient am I lol?

I think probably for most of us after years of trying to ignore the problems and just stressing about it when we finally do deal with it the final days/weeks can seem very very long!

I am trying not to panic too much, but I know exactly how Cath is feeling...

How similar the emotions are Penny. I guess I'll just have to sit and wait!

Cath - if it makes you feel any better..I thought I was pretty much at the same stage as Pennyless - sent all my docs to VB by the end of Sept, they then sent them to Melanie. I waited until around 9 October before I got a phone call and got booked in for "phone interview" for 19 October (which I thought was pre-proposal)- it wasn't, it was just my initial chat with Sue. Then, I got my welcome pack last Thursday, which asked for even more docs I don't have already. There's about 4 more pieces of paperwork I need before my proposal can be drafted - and with the postal strikes, heaven only knows when that will be!! So you're much closer than you think hun - chin up, we're all here for you xx

Hi Rainbow,

Do you have the ability to email them over it might speed things up a little perhaps until the hard copies are received?

Also when you say initial chat was this the first time you had spoken to someone on the phone?

I had my initial chat with Tina the day after I submitted my info online.

I guess in your case Rainbow as you had already sent your pack over, Sue (IP) had looked it all over and noted that additional info was required for the best proposal to be drafted....I haven't had an IP meeting yet.

I know it's a pain and a worry for us all sat here waiting, but the professionals are doing the best job for us and the best jobs take time to complete.

If I sat at work and just did a shoddy job, I'd never see any clients again, they would never come back. Patience is a virtue, difficult as it may be......but it will work out in the end...I hope lol! xxx

Hi Daniel - yes, was just thinking that tonight - I will try and e-mail stuff over - the problem is receiving it in the first place!! When I say my initial chat, that was with the IVA Bureau - I contacted Vincent Bond at first and had many discussions with them in deciding what to do - they then sent my information over to Mel. By the way, I am not complaining in any shape or form - I knew from the outset this would not be a quick process, and am quite prepared, even though some days I wish it was just sorted. I know Sue, Mel and the team are doing their very best for me. You'll be all sorted by Christmas Cath, don't worry x

Guys - I thought I had better post a few points about my firm's case handling process:-

1 A file is never a complete file until all documentation has been received. It is not until that point that I can really assess the case properly to confirm suitability.

2 Once we have a completed file, we need to ensure that all creditor balances have been properly audited. For this we are in the hands of creditors, and while you may have sent your paperwork in early, creditors often take a couple of weeks to provide confirmations. My team are constantly chasing things like this up.

3 Once we are in position to draft the proposal, it is scheduled into the diary of one of my three colleagues who work on that side. We have a rolling three week period, and most cases are processed and clients interviewed within that timescale. Shortly after this time you will have your final meeting with either Sue or myself.

4 We are legally obliged to give 17 days notice of the meeting of creditors, once signed proposals have been issued.

These processes are in place in my firm for one particular reason. I have a failure rate of less than 10% compared to an industry rate of nearly 40%. The work that my team put in to our cases at the front end, in determining suitability, affordabilty and accuracy will pay dividends to you all in the long run, and you will have a far better understanding of the procedures.

Cath - I am suprised that you have been informed of a five week wait - I would expect to be seeing you in a couple of weeks to be honest. I am on holiday for the next week, and out of the office for a great part of the week following, but I will make enquiries tomorrow to see if we can slot you in a little earlier.

You may find firms that will promise you that they can turn around your proposals in a matter of days - indeed I have done this myself on occasion if there has been a desparate need to avoid a bankruptcy or charging order for instance - but trust me when I say that quality time invested now, is worth it in the long run. And just to clarify that the timescale has nothing to do with being too busy, having too much work or not enough staff.

Clearly clients who have been referred to us by other companies, may experience a longer delay if we need to request additional documentation than that which has been provided.

Hope this helps you to understand things from the IP angle - and if any of you have any particular concerns may I ask that you contact me or Sue directly.
Regards, Melanie Giles, Insolvency Practitioner

Melanie thanks for that. To be honest we ALL know this process takes time but in the same vein we all want it done like yesterday lol and I for one doubt that will ever change.

Melanie one things for sure...I have read these forums from back to front and also sideways and doubt I will ever have the need to take you up on your offer of speaking to you about any concerns. The proposal I received was clear and consice and whilst noting others "concerns" on these boards I have yet to read one that has not already been averted in my case by your team. Considering I made my decision after one call with Tina I consider myself very lucky that you agreed to become my IP....as time has gone by and having read some of the "horror" stories/regrets some have with their IP's, it looks like it could be the best decision I have made in the last few years.

Regards

Pennyless.

Cath and Rainbowofhope I'm sure we will all have our IVA's in place well before XMAS, which is actually what we all hoped for when we started weeks ago....seems so long ago now but in reality its' only been a short time lol. I think we have all made massive strides since first starting the IVA process and we all get down days, but from my own point of view they have been few and far between and nothing that these forums could'nt help with. Chins-up!

All good things come to those who wait....Melanie is thorough I can vouch for that personally...my IVA through various issues took from October until February 8th to complete, in October an IVA was a no go area for me, made my 22nd payment yesterday, after a first time almost 100% acceptance from my creditors. You'll all be there in due course and believe me if you're with Melanie it'll be a smooth journey for you x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
