Agree entirely Helen. I think the hardest part of the process was accepting that at 45 year old I really didn't have a clue and having to admit that I needed help, but once I sought help it was great to find that their are so many out there who will help you on the correct path to debt freedom.

We are the same - we used to go out on a Saturday afternoon 'for a look round' and never came home empty handed.

We once went out looking for a venting kit for the tumble dryer......twice we came back without one, but we bought a microwave the first time and a dishwasher the second time!

Learned our lesson now and won't be doing anything like that again!

Hi Pennyless,
Absolutely awesome post, very well done, I can totally relate to some of the points you made, I did not find it a bind either, just total relief, I think you did it similar to me as well, started the process before the creditors realised you were in trouble, for me not one single call.

very well written,
Best Wishes
Mark

Inapickle glad you found this post useful. As you have read I got a lot of questions answered by many of the experts and experienced posters alike and if people can gain some idea of whats involved in the IVA process or take some ideas away from it then great. Good luck.

A big thank you to Pennyless for the full account of your personal journey through the IVA process.

My wife and I, are currently at the very early stages of the process after making a call to Melanie Giles last week .

From the many accounts I have read on here it seems like we have made an excellent choice, and feel a lot better after speaking to Tina, who we found to be very helpful.

I have spent the best part of the afternoon reading through the thirty pages of posts, and found the information on here to be of great use.

It is also comforting to know that we are not the only ones in the position we find ourselves in.

From our initial dealings with Melanie, and reading through the experiences of others, it has made us determined to confront our situation all the more.

Once again many thanks to Pennyless for a great post, and I wish you, and all the other contributors on here, all the best for the future.

The forum is here for you if you have any concerns, or need any advice or support.

Good luck with your application.

Hi there

I am glad that you have asked my firm to assist with your application, and that you have found the advice already given by Tina to be very helpful. I shall look forward to speaking to you myself, very shortly - and do let us know if there is anything we can do in the meantime.
Regards, Melanie Giles, Insolvency Practitioner
