This looks a valuable offering. How (generally) would an IP react to someone requesting this premium be agreed as part of their expenses?

I think as long as it did not disturb my client's ability to fund their ongoing monthly contributions, then you would have to support it - after all it is protecting our future fees as well.

You say it doesn't cost us a penny, but it does as nothing is free and it is only really giving the creditors and IP's some sort of guarantee of payments if something did go wrong for a limited amount of time.Sorry to be cynical but its a product from an insurance company!

It's an insurance Jamie and surely if you became ill or redundant then your IVA Payments would be covered rather than your IVA failing? which could result in you/anyone facing Bankruptcy, which for me is not not an option for myself, so peace of mind that continued payments into my IVA should the dreaded happen is ideal for me.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I understand what you're saying Jamie, but have to agree with isthereanend. Sure, it provides assurance to creditors and IP's in terms of fees, and hopefully won't need to be used which means the insurance company make money - On balance, and if the premiums are affordable though, it's the peace of mind it would give me that's worth paying for. This is a long road and none of us know what challenges may crop up over 5 long years. I'd be really devastated if my IVA failed, particularly a few years in, simply for the sake of a few punds to protect my payments. Will take a long hard look at this product and make a decision in the new year.

Hi
An IVA gives you a certainty that your debts will be cleared at the end of the term[normally five years],to have an insurance cover that maintains these payments if you are ill etc will mean that you have peace of mind that your debts will STILL be cleared.
It is worth the peace of mind if affordability allows

Hi isthereanend

You are quite right, this is an insurance.

If you are self employed and paying £400 per month to your IVA, you could pay £840 into this over 5 years and never claim.

You could also pay £840 into this and have £23,600 paid to your IVA.

Some people like to gamble, and it is their right to choose to do this, but their family will have to gamble along with them as well.

Thank goodness this insurance is NOT COMPULSORY, everyone can make their own choices. Where someone chooses to buy this cover, we will work hard to give them value for money.

Example:
A website enquiry this morning. Self employed man, IVA payment £800 per month. We quoted a premium of £28.00, and pointed out that this would be permanently reduced to £26.00 if he joined this Forum, and offered a FREE BREAD CARD as well ()normally costs £10.00).

We are trying very hard !
