Hi all, Have now got a meeting date of 20th June for both of us. Also received a letter today from PP with our copies of the proposal. the letter reads that if the IVA is agreed then the first payment is to made on that date ie:20th june. as we are paid at the end of each month we were hoping the payments would start on the 1st July and 1st every month onwards. What with the costs of accomadation for ourselves at the hospital for our little one`s OP we wont have this amount available in 14 days.
Can they enforce this date or is it a standard letter??

Just let them know I would not have thought that it would be a problem to conincide the date with the date you get paid.
We're willing to wipe the slate clean, give you a fresh start. All that we're asking in return is your cooperation.

I know with my IVA company my first payment had to be made when I sent my signed proposal back, but others do have to make the first payment on the creditor meeting date if the IVA is accepted, have you spoken to Payplan to ask if they can make an exception for you?

I think Kallis is with Payplan, she may have more of an idea about their policy on this

Who is your IP?

Our 1st payment had to be made within 30 days - like yourself we get paid at end of each month so mine is running a month behind, speak with your IP they should be able to accomodate you.

Hi Chris,

Speak to Payplan, you should be able to delay the payment. I was able to change mine until payday. I was unable to make a payment on my agreement date but I paid it two weeks later on payday.

My IVA was accepted on the 3rd of June this year and my first payment had to be made within 30 day so we have gone for the first of July. But from what I have seen there seem to be lots of ways. I would speck to your IP if I was you.

I just got accepted by Payplan today and when I offered to pay my first payment straight away, they were surprised so I think had I asked for a later date it would have been ok. I just wanted to get the first payment out of the way! Hope this helps

Thanks for that - my paperwork states I should ring with the 1st payment by the meeting date (Cambridge McDuffy). I may ring them (again!) and ask if we can pay on the 1st July which is only 10 days from the meeting date.

I'm sure there won't be a problem with that kazza, I believe you have 28 days in which to make that first payment.

We were asked to pay on the day of acceptance but had no cheque book and no debit card at the time so we set up the SO straightaway for two weeks afterwards and it was fine.

So long as you make your first payment within the month following acceptance you should be fine
