Hi caraf,
I agree with Aguise. My budget is £100 for gas and electric and although our monthly payments are a little less than that it helps offset our council tax which is worked out over 12 months although we only make payments for 10!

I would hang fire. have you had you winter bill yet? As you may need to amend your direct debits accordingly. i would stick with it until your review and if you really feel that you need to change the amounts do it then.

Lou

Hi Markss only just saw your post. I am with Freeman Jones and have absolutely no complaint whatsoever. Iva took about 6/7 weeks from start to acceptance, very helpful, friendly. I have good expenditure and am now in month 14 with no rises in payments, overtime we pay at 50% each month. Just had review and no probs at all. I went with them as i didnt know about the forum and I went on recommedation of a friend. I speak as I find. Bear in mind since I took mine out creditors appear to have got a bit tougher. I have had no probs offsetting rises in expenditure against my overtime either. Read my blog it gives a fair account of how things went with them.

How can bank statements help you?

If i was your client you would struggle, i get pain on the 14th, on the 17th the iva payment goes out and the standing order for rent goes out, then i take the rest of the money out, leaving a zero balance as i pay cash for everything so i can keep control of my money

Hi james.c -

Do you not pay by direct debit for your telephone, council tax and utilities? I know many companies charge extra for non-D/D payments so dont quite understand your logic here. What do you do with any money left after all your cash payments?

I have one bank account and have no problem understanding and keeping control of my finances. Am just interested to hear how you came to decide on your own procedure?

I have 2 bank accounts. My salary gets paid into the Nationwide account and I transfer my spending money into the Co-op account as it has a debit card which makes life easier if I want to buy anything on the internet!

My IPA and mobile phone bill are paid by standing order and direct debit, and I withdraw cash to buy the food for the month and pay Dave my share of the bills. I transfer my petrol money onto my Bread card and pay cash for most other things. My monthly allowances are transferred into my e svaings account.

I find this system works for me as I know there is enough money to cover my bills in my Nationwide account and anything in the Co-op account is mine to spend.

i do it so i can better control of every penny.

After all not keeping it in control got me in this situation in the first place.

What i am doing might seam a bit extreme to some people, but it works for me

Hi

2 reasons why Bank Statements help.

Firstly, as the majority of people get paid by BGC nowadays there is no better barometer to someone's income and outgoings than the bank statements. I acknowledge that there will be folks to whom this doesn't apply.

Secondly, if we don't get bank statements showing regular payments by DD, unless we get all the relevant utility bills from you how can we IPs demonstrate that we've properly examined your income and expenditure and, by definition, that you can actually afford the IVA?

I know the due diligence can slow things down, but it's absolutely essential if the IVA is going to work, so I'm afraid I can never apologise for asking for the evidence[:)]
