Hi,

I entered into an IVA in October 2007 and was very lucky in that my parents offered to help me and settled my IVA in full in February 2008.

I have been keeping an eye on all 3 credit reports and slowly building my record back up using tips found on here and other forums. My credit scores are slowly improving and was able to get a Visa Credit Card in January this year.

However onto the main problem, I tried to arrange a loan yesterday and the lender told me there were 2 accounts on file that shows I still owe substantial amounts. I explained to the lender that these accounts should have been settled almost 20 months ago and the lender told me that I should contact my IVA practioner and get them to contact creditors to update the credit file.

I am not worried about the defaults, I know they will be there for 6 years.

However 2 out of the 5 accounts that were settled still show amounts outstanding and I need to know what to do to resolve this.

Any advice much appreciated, thanks.

I would get a copy of your report from all three agencies, Experian, Equifax and Call Credit to see exactly what it says.

You will then need to write to the creditors to ask them to alter the entries. I don't think your IP will do this.

hey mrclooney

i would advise contacting the two creditors directly and send a copy of your completion cerftificate and request they now advise the credit reference agencies to update your file with the debt showing as satisfied.

You will have to send a copy of your certificate of completion to your creditor or to any firm who they sold the debt on to.

Hi Thanks for your replies.

I checked through all correspondance from my IVA and kept everything safe in a folder. I have a letter acknowledging the debt being settled and that a certificate would follow which I dont believe I ever recieved.

My IP was Wilson Phillips whom no longer exist. I managed to speak to someone in the Accuma Group whom are trying to dig my file out of storage.

If I were to write to the creditors how do I go about it without getting the run around?

The creditors are GE Capital and HSBC. I have trawled all over the HSBC website and cannot find a suitable department/number and bear in mind that I am no longer an HSBC customer either.

I have all 3 copies of my credit reports and get these monthly. Details are as follows:

Finance House
Credit Card
Start date 10/1/00
closed 27/3/07
Account closed on 27/03/2007 with an outstanding balance of £****
Updated 16/4/07
Last entry default on march 07, no date since.

Last entry shows a default and for each consective month there is no data. The other accounts all show settled or satisfied.

Exactly the same with the account below

Bank HSBC
Credit Card
Start Date 14/5/04
Account closed on 18/02/2007 with an outstanding balance of £****
Closed 18/2/07
updated 2/6/07
last update on file is default on feb 2007 with no accout data after that

How do I get the right contact details for both creditors? How will I get through security checks etc being that im no longer a customer. I dont even think I Still have any account details etc as this was nearly 2 years ago.

Thanks.

The 5 other accounts all have a settled status as the last update.

You may well find that the debts were sold on anyway and no longer belong to the two creditors.

If Accuma can find your file, they should be able to give you details of whom the dividends were paid out to and possibly addresses.

Thanks very much for your help.

I will wait to hear back from Accuma I guess.
