changes all the time at the moment each assignment is worth 15% of total marks and the exam is worth 70% so you can fail any one of them or even 2 but still pass the module. The pass rate is 40% overall.

And me - when I did my insolvency exams. Some IPs got their licence through grandfather rights, but most of us younger versions had to pass very difficult exams - 3 hours each - two one day and another the following day. You never got to finish the papers, and the average pass rate was 28%. Never again!

People always try to mend things that are not broken - academics are past masters at it - anyway - good luck for the finals.

The mathematics of music - I am none the wiser but am told it is based upon the way Bach composed - some mathematician put Bach's compositions into mathematical formulae many years ago - Manchester Uni picked up on it and now do a maths/music degree. The RA have followed suit.

It sounds thrilling! I hope he enjoys the subject, and when will he hear if he has been accepted at the RA?

I would think with a mark that high it must be a foregone conclusion

He has gotto get 3 straight As in the A level - he is doing music, maths, physics and English Language; then the foundation exam (RAs) - so hopefully next April. All the teachers say he will walk it but I won't count his chickens - he is expected to get straight As in all four.

Gosh - 4 A levels that is tough. Make sure he gets his head down as he will be a busy boy this time next year. But great he has the support of a wonderful Mum and Dad.
