Hi

Went into my local Abbey bank today, and after a credit score and a faield bank account application, I am now the proud owner of an Abbey basic bank account with CashCard.

It allows branch banking (unique apparently), e-banking, telephone banking, cash card, DDI and SOIs.

She said that I could upgrade in a year, aslong as the account is well maintained and I behave and my credit file shows some improvement then I should get a Visa Electron in a years time.

She was absolutely lovely, didnt expect that at all, i was expecting to be judged and treated like dirt, just as LloydsTSB did.

Ive also opened a passbook savings account for my contingency account, and I also have a virgin prepaid mastercard, so couldnt be happier, Ive even told Thinkbanking that I am going to shut the account. Thinkbanking said that they understand that I want to becuase of the poor service at present, and said if I wanted to go back I could. They have told me to ring up on the 1st June, once all my DDIs have gone through.

So dead happy and looking like my debts are getting sorted. Thanks to Freeman Jones and the Abbey!!

well done good for you, i dont know who these people in the banks think they are treating people like dirt just because they are classed as a credit risk or in an iva/br, i dont think they realise what an impact that can have on the person and how bl**dy awful it can make them feel, i think banks should invest in training staff to be a little bit more human.

Great news!

Just a quick question.......

Turns out we have a full bank account with the Abbey not a basic account - will the Abbey down grade the account if our IVA is accepted?

They are not a creditor.

The lady in the Abbey said to me, if an IVA has just been accepted or if you are in the process of going through of an IVA (Neither applied to me) then they should accept, and if they do accept for full banking the account will be safe as long as it doesnt go overdrawn.

So I think your account should be ok as long as you dont go overdrawn all time and get loads of charges and that they are not a creditor or an affliated creditor.

Hope that helps

Although we have a basic account with Nationwide - all bills etc coming out of there, we still have our Barclays full account (only a tenner in there) and they were one of my creditors. They haven't told us we have to close it.
