One of my colleagues at work, who has an enormous mortgage, a further advance on that mortgage, 6 kids between him and his wife, and his wife only does part time childminding, loves spending and has been permanently tango'd and he earns next to nothing, has just started a new trend.

It was his stepsons last day at primary school today (not even high school), and they hired a stretch limo to pick him up from school!!!!!

How stupid can you get? Must be b***** mad, I hate snobbery with kids, I hate designger baby shops.... its friggin plain wrong, babies and children should be valued for who they are not what they wear or limo's ?? For crying out loud, I feel sorry for the child to be honest. what is the world coming to? Take him to the park and let him play in mud for heavens sake, get him a puppy he can love. b***** Limo. I think I know where they are heading.

I personally think it will be BR myself as they don't seem to have much disposable income. His second advance was to pay off his credit cards and a couple of loans I think (been there myself), and his orange wife was seen shopping in Next a couple of weeks ago laden with bags and with armfuls of clothes over her arm to try on!

We're just waiting for the rug to be pulled from under his feet as he is very blase about his finances (or lack of them).

Lily, he seemed very proud of the fact! I'd love to point him in the direction of this site, so he could see what is likely to happen to him after he had read a few posts, but that would mean telling him of my problems, and I keeping schtum about those!

Probably cant afford an IVA, how would you feel putting that on your expenses? Can just imagine that conversation, er, you need a limo? for what? I strongly suggest you look up stupidly OTT in the dictionary after I stamp your BR papers. Next.

A prom yes, at my sons place of education the kids stay there until the age of 19 they do a prom and its so nice to see, there is one image I will never forget of this young girl, dressed in a beautiful yellow, flowing dress, she can hardly move and the skin has been burned from her head and face, she is beautiful stepping out of a limo with all of her friends, her smile is contagious, they are always so happy. Its very humbling. Now that limo, worth every penny.

A prom is different, I suppose in one way it is marking the transition of their lives from being children into becoming young adults.

They have always spoilt the kids. I think they bought the oldest ones computers for last Christmas, his wife had a personalised number plate. He took her to New York to propose and bought the engagement ring from Tiffany - £4.500.

They got married last year, her wedding dress was £2,800 and they had a limo for that. Before getting spliced they exchanged Gucci watches!!!!!!!!!

It can only end in tears!!!!!!!

Normal people don't really live like that do they? My daughter went to a ten yr old friends birthday party a couple of weeks ago.She has a surprise limo. Why? They went around the block a couple of times and drank non alcoholic champagne!!! And what sort of message does this give them? The next b/day was to a pamper party.Make up, straighteners for hair, nails etc. They are TEN.They shouldn't be fussing over rubbish like that.Fortuantely, my daughter is a tomboy. And although she 'conforms' for girly stuff sometimes, she's really very down to earth and can give fantastic looks of disgust (it's heroditry!) Oh well, looks like we'll have a new poster soon enough!!
I can't judge though, I bought/paid for some pretty stupid things when we had credit. I have nothing much to show for it all now apart from my br!
It's nice to be back......
