Hi - I've just replied to your email wuffy.

Unfortunately, wuffy's current employer has already backfilled the position, so withdrawal of resignation is not an option.

I'm glad the company admitted it was due to insolvency the offer was withdrawn. This has now enabled the decision to be challenged as the questions asked were answered. They could argue, wuffy should have written on the form "insolvent", but that wasn't the direct question.

Finance departments ( no matter what the business) are likely to use these restrictions when filling vacancies. I believe, the error in this case, is the employers ignorance over difference from BR and IVA's -I'm sure they will rephrase their questions going forward to include "insolvency".

Enjoy the coke...and vodka wuffy!

Sounds like they were fishing for a way out if they have also made redundancies. I would still pursue them for compensation as it could be argued that a contract of employment was in place.

Thanks everyone for your replies

Well, a bit of good news at least.... have spoken to my manager and his manager and whilst I cannot keep my own job they have gone above and beyond and have a place for me still doing what I do but in another company owned by the company I work for, about one hundred yards from the position of my desk currently :-) so in effect, I have a new job and Im still insolvent too LOL

I am still emailing the other company, whilst I dont want their job I also think they owe me an apology for their short comings and a valid explanation.

Funny that I was going there to chase their debt yet they are more concerned about my debt than their own.

Great news Wuffy. Once you are ready publish the name of the company who did this and we can all remember them should we ever have the option of using them. I know they are a big firm but so is the firm you work for and they deserve a huge pat on the back. While you are obviously good at your job, your employers have acted with grace and professionalism and maybe'The Devil you know'.

Basically -- the other lot don't deserve you ! Big Brownie Points to your current (and new) employers, they obviously value you.

Well Done.
