I don't think all HR teams work like that and whilst every department has it's bad apples you cannot apply this to everyone.

My wife has been trying to get early retirement for a while now and HR will not let her go.

You simply cannot tar all with one brush Iamfubb2,HR have worked in my favour on a few occasions and have also worked with me to achieve an outcome for a worker that both sides were happy with.

Have you asked why?

HR, Definition- How to get rid of people as cheaply and quickly as possible....... Humanity doesn't even enter into it!! I know because had very recent dealings with a HR department, at best underhand, at worst downright liars DO NOT trust these people.

A reminder..
The ethos of this forum is respect for all at all times
Generally it means that the moderators will delete any post which is deemed to be unkind, judgemental ..Admin .

As i have said, this is only a comment about my own experience with HR. it was not meant to be unkind and, is definightly not judgemental of all HR, just the ones i have had dealings with. Would name the company but have been gagged by an agreement probably drawn up by a HR team

Hi

Point taken but Julie helps many people on this forum with her expert HR knowledge.
Like any profession there is good and bad but she doesn't want to be tarred with the same brush

Ian -- I realise that you have had bad dealings with those in HR you have had contact with. but, your statement was rather sweeping and rather pointed.

I have also been given the rough end of the pineapple by our HR department, but know for a fact that there are good HR people out there. Don't forget they are also the people who process wages, sickness claims, annual leave, promotions and the like.

Good HR look after the company's most valuable resource but also reflect the company policies, through no fault of their own.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

I am pleased tht you have acknowledged that i have a point. I did not know that Julie was a HR expert, but hope that if i have any questions or problems on the subject that she would give her advice and opinions to clarify matters (though if Julie didn't reply i would fully understand)

iamfubb2, as a HR professional I have and will continue to help any posters in HR matters if I can.

I do not agree with your sweeping statement about HR, but that would not deter me from helping you in the future.

Julie has assisted me and helped numerous other posters all voluntarily in her own time despite having a hectic schedule at work and home.

Julie is a true professional lady who I am pleased to call a friend both on and off the forum.

Lesley - could not agree more. She is being very supportive of Jan with her problems at the moment and we know that we can count on her.

I hope it can revert back to the OP now.

do you have any news Lem?

I'm going to write my letter tomorrow to express my interest in the new post and send it off to apply for one of the positions and then sit back and wait.

Letters due by 29th June so after that if I'm shortlisted it will be interview time!
