I'd love to go after all this but can't afford to. Would you believe all this palava and paperwork exercise is for a ten hour per week post! Crazy

I've often (too often)been involved in the redundancy process in a HR role and it's not easy, believe me.

Lesley - you know I will help you all I can and that offer is extended to any poster.

If she gets offered early retirement then she can afford to go, otherwise it's another 18 months.

Can you manage on 10 hours a week?

I hold two posts within the college. One is for ten hours and the other 21 hours, it's only the 10 hour post that is affected by this, the other is safe.

If I manage to secure one of the replacement posts, it will be 12 hours and a grade higher pay scale so I'd actually benefit. x

I too am desperate to be offered the chance of early departure, I absolutely hate my job now. It's a real shame as I used to love my job, but after 28 years of change I am desperate to leave. I am fortunate in that my IVA is now complete and I would be more than content to take some part-time work to make up my penison. I know I am lucky to have a job, when so many are unemployed, and feel guilty for grumbling about it, especially when I see people in the same position as Lem & Lesley. I do get angry with myself for moaning at times, but I have just had enough and want out.

Jsn knows exactly how you feel! Unfortunately she has to soldier on at the moment - redundancy won't give her enough to pack work it but retirement would.

She hates her job and really can't wait until she can finish.

HR, Definition- How to get rid of people as cheaply and quickly as possible....... Humanity doesn't even enter into it!! I know because had very recent dealings with a HR department, at best underhand, at worst downright liars. I DO NOT trust these people.

Kaykay don't get angry for grumbling. I do enough of it. Frustrating situations and I start fluffing and doing at work and I think they're used to me now!

Merely telling of my dealings with HR people it was not meant as any personal insult. But is it not true that HR teams work in the interest of their employers to get rid of employees (when the "need" arises)with the minimum of fuss and outlay?
