Don't know how, he was the cashier at Asda but as I was putting stuff through we got to talking and somehow I sensed from what he was saying about xmas and the cost that he has some money troubles so I pursued it.

I said look up iva.co.uk and go on the forum and check out what an IVA is, it might be right for you. He said he's got to the CCJ stage and so I really really hope he comes on here reads and gets advise.

He's not the first I've talked to about this. I don't feel terribly private about my IVA, although of course I don't mind those that do, it's not right for everyone to be public about it! There are still people I wouldn't tell, mostly as they would judge me and quite frankly I can't be bothered to go down that road. But if I sense someone has financial problems, even complete strangers I tell them and also tell them so far it's the best thing I've ever done, even though it's not easy.

It's feels good to think you might help someone eh?

Well done Fiona -- I point whoever I can in this direction on the basis that the sooner they know about the help they can get the better. Many of us wish we'd found this forum earlier in the process.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Thats great Fiona - lets hope he takes your advice and finds us all on here. Its so sad to know every day all around us are people in desparate times - if only they knew to pop on here and get help.

I've often mentioned it to epople becuase even if they are not ready to do anything about it they will at least find a great bunch of supportive poeple who understand.

Yep. Hopefully at sme point they will find the courage, like everyone on here, to face up to them and sort them out properly. Lots of people still don't even know they have options.

That's good Fi. I must admit I have told a couple of people about their options. Not told them I'm in an IVA but just told them the website addresses to look at. I know how desperate I was before I found the forum so if I can help just 1 person (or more!) find a solution then I'm happy.

What a wonderful thing you did Fi, I wish someone had told me about IVA's a year before I entered mine rather than struggling on and accumulating more debt...
Last Payment made 04/12/14. Completion Certificate 25/7/15. IVA company GT. No Issues

Thanks all, but I think the least we can do is help others not get in the situation we've got in, or at least if they are in that situation let them know there is a way out. I saw real scaredness in his eyes, I really wanted to do something.

This forum has helped me so much, I was already going down the IVA path when I found it but it helped answer a lot of questions whilst I was on the path to acceptance and although I don't comment a lot I do check in most days, I think you're all fab and help people out so much!

Group hug?!!

Wouldn't it be funny if he was reading this thread! I hope so...I always enjoy meeting new members.

Hopefully one of them will erase the mental image I have of Foggy's mankini! Thanks Paul - it had almost gone. x
