Just cut up all my credit cards - need a drink

Well I have just cut up all my credit cards!!!! what a step but so relieved. Was writing yesterday about I ill I feel - still feel ill but hoping to go back to work next week. My husband is writing today to all my creditors with my authority to ask for respite for 4 months as when I go back I will not be able to earn extra to meet commitments. Actually it was something Andy said yesterday that made me realise I had to do something or I will just kill myself. Andy - no I can't meet my commitments unless I do overtime!!!Not sure yet if I will even be able to work my normal hours until I go back. The way I feel I don't even feel I can get back next week. On top of that my younger daughter came home last night with her first opportunity to go away with her German Class next November (£220 not bad really) but deposit of 100 needs to be paid in two weeks.

I know its going to be a bumpy ride but first step taken to normality - cards in the bin.

Well done, I know how hard it is to cut up your cards, making sure you can't ever use them again.....very scary. Your on your way now to sorting out your money problems, best of luck. xx

Well done elizabeth. Its is scary but you will look back on it as the beginning of being debt free. I had to face that question too could we survive without overtime, no we couldnt. I am so glad I did lift my head and realise we needed to do something. My only regret we didnt do it earlier.

Well done , I cut up all mine on New Years day & thought I would feel a huge releif but I did not I just felt sick at how I got myself into such a mess and the fact that now I had no back up. But then a few days later It felt good not having them when I stood in Tescos & paid with cash now that was great. Plus now I really watch what I buy on food shop so I have cut down on any waste.

Congratulations on taking this big step. Learning to live without credit cards may seem daunting but I'm sure you will get used to it very soon.

i hope you are feeling better and looking after yourself...the stress will be making your condition so much worse.

I felt huge relief when my cards were all cut up and sent back, very scary when you no longer see them in your purse for a while as you feel you have no 'safety net' but easy to get used to.

Hope all goes well and you manage to return to work ok, be thinking of you next week and let us know how you go
