Under CCCS guidelines you are allowed £11 per month for a single person, £21 for a married couple and £10 on top of that for each child.

My husband and I have just come back from Court, having made ourselves bankrupt after our IVA had failed.

We are currently sat at home waiting for the OR to call us.

What will they say, and does anyone know of any questions i might want to ask them when they ring?

Cant believe weve finally done it!
Just wondering...how long was it between failing your IVA and filing for BR? Also, what kind of pressure did you receive from creditors in this time?

Shanks :

My last payment to IVA was in December, and it failed around May.
It was sept before we got a final confirmation from debt free direct, and we did not hear from any creditors at all.

Are you seriously considering BR or are you just getting prepared just in case?

Flashingblade, I agree with Melanie - please look into household insurance.

We've got contents insurance with Lloyds TSB through the AA. They were fine about me being BR when it was taken out, unlike some of the others. They also don't mind us living near the river!

Shanks, I put a contingency / emergency fund on my I & E when I went BR and this was disallowed, presumably because anything had to come out of my surplus income.

Yeah I really am considering it as I dont have any assets to lose. Also my IVA contributions have risen far quicker than my salary (my salary is now less than this time last year by the way) and we all know the cost of living has rocketed

I agree about the insurance. Wouldn't be without it. Nothing has ever been mentioned about our IVA.

I've just taken out pet insurance as well, and had no problem with that, even though I am paying monthly.

Obviously do ur research first but i can honestly say its been the best thing we ever did, and it tooks us months to decide. Many people on here will tell u i thought of and asked about many ways to get out of the mess we were in. But BR was the only option for us. We even gave up our mortgaged property, our home, so it was a big wrench for us. Sometimes an IVA is not the answer. Get plenty of independant advice before you make a decision. The courts will ask what advice you have taken. Best of luck.

Insurance - popped in the bank today, and she asked me if i wanted it, so shes getting someone to call me 2moro :o)

Hi,

Best of luck for the future.

Bright grey are supposed to be one of the most competitive for contents insurance.
