Hi, I have just gone through a lengthy phone call with a lady from 'Debt free Direct' and have been told that an IVA would be the solution to our debts. I'm feeling a bit shell shocked and scared at the moment as I have been told to move mine and my husbands bank account a.s.a.p and that a courier will be coming in a weeks time to pick up wage slips and bank statements, in the meantime a pack will be sent to me. My questions are, is this a reputable company and should I be hastily running off to open new accounts? HELP !!
We are with DFD and can recall our lenghty call - after it I came of the phone in disbelief that it could be so simple to reduce our debts ! But I am now 13 payments in and yes it is as DFD explain it - I have no issues with DFD, their advice and guidance has been spot on throughout and I would recommend them to anyone.
I know others have had issues - but each person's IVA is different in it's circumstances -so you must follow your heart and only agree to it if you can afford it!
Keep smiling - it get's easier!

There is a solution for everyone .... Just need to stay positive !
Hey Rose68, welcome to the forum. DFD are a reputable company and the info you have received is correct. If you are happy with them then go ahead. You may want to go to www.iva.com and read some reviews. Maybe speak to a couple more to compare advice. Good luck. X
You've taken that first, most important step by admitting your problems.
It is a bit daunting, but the relief once you are accepted is unbelievable.
As Viki says, it won't hurt to contact another couple of firms to see what they say.

A big welcome from me too. I was in your shoes just 10 months ago I know just how you are feeling. But since our IVA was approved in December 2007 everything is brilliant, no real major incidents.
Almost at 12 month review time which is a little worrying but nothing much has changed since last year. I just cant believe 1 year has almost gone lets just hope that the next 4 go just as quick.
Keep posting

IVA completed 11th Dec 2009 due to a Full and Final with the fantastic help of Michael Peoples and
Mc Cambridge Duffy
If your bank is one of your creditors, then you do need to open a new account and transfer everything across. Make sure you don't have an overdraft facility though.

We are too just going through the process of getting acceptance for an IVA.
I have applied for a Co-op account as much of our debt is with our current bank.
We initially spoke to B & E but then I followed advice on the forum and chatted with another company.
Check out the feedback on IVA.com this was invaluble to us,
Feeling really scared about the whole process so can sympathise.
Welcome to the forum. x
7 down 53 to go
The pedal uphill may be hard but remember once you reach the top you can take your feet off and freewheel all the way down!!!
Don't be scared - you are amongst highly qualified professionals and a great support network from people living the IVA experience on this site. Support is there for you generally 24/7 (well almost!) so your never should feel alone or afraid. You are moving towards a better place!
Hello again everyone. Sorry I haven't been back for quite a few weeks but TalkTalk decided to start messing with my phone line and it has been dead for nearly 4 weeks along with my internet!! Anyway, I'm back now and have lots to tell you. We have now signed all the dotted lines and just sent it all back and await a date for the creditors meeting. How Scary! HSBC have given us a new account with no problems at all although we are still waiting for all the direct debits to be transferred and Payrolls to switch over. You all reassured me that I was doing the right thing. Thankyou xx
