Hi Rose
HSBC are not the ideal bank to change to as they have a policy of closing accounts where people are in an IVA.
Sorry to put a spanner in the works but it wold pay you to open another account.Try the Co-op Cashminer,if they are not a credior of yours.
Regards
i remember making my first call like it was yesterday, i was in complete despair, that was the middle of july, i now have my iva in place, and i cant describe the weight off my shoulders, the relief of actually sorting my debts out and being able to look forward. you do need to change bank accounts, but i found the whole proccess of that and changing my d/d went smoothly, everything will be very daunting at the moment, but please beleive me you are doing the right thing, i choose melanie and her team to represent me and there was always somebody to answer my questions. the best of luck. xx

HSBC have given us a new account with no problems at all although we are still waiting for all the direct debits to be transferred and Payrolls to switch over. You all reassured me that I was doing the right thing. Thankyou xx
Are HSBC aware of your position? As Andy says, they don't look upon people who are insolvent at all favourably - I believe they regularly review the insolvency register (which you will go on once IVA is approved) and close the accounts of insolvent customers. (nice bunch)
You want a basic, no frills account - I have the Halifax Easy Cash, which provides an electron card, internet banking but no overdraft.
I'm surprised DFD didn't suggest appropriate accounts for you, as you don't want to have tochange direct debits and pay rolls over again!
