The ones that kept ringing me back morning noon and night were The Halifax, Abbey and MBNA. The latter even tracked me down at work much to my disgust, as I did not tell them my works number.

Surprisingly my biggest creditor HSBC hardly ever contacted me.

If any of these companies make you stressed tell them you are not prepared to talk about it with them on the phone and give them the name and number of your IP. After that if they still don't get the message HANG UP. No point getting more stressed.
We're willing to wipe the slate clean, give you a fresh start. All that we're asking in return is your cooperation.

Unlike many of you I have no contacts I have to worry about so I just changed my phone number. It cost nothing and only took 24 hours. If you go this route and you are not with BT for your internet connection remember to notify your ISP of your new number.

Michael ... that's the way to do it ... don't answer the calls ... it will all be history soon and life is far too short.

michael

i sympathise with you i hated the phone calls!

most of the time i would answer the phone at home though as i thought if they spoke to me at home they less likely to contact me at work and they didnt!

i never phoned them back though if i missed their calls! as not going to run a big phone bill up ringing them, as like others have said most of their calls are a last ditch attempt to get a payment out of you!

try not to let them get to you!

some creditors never even phoned once, others were a pain, mercers were the worst - but most of it is just scare tactics!

good news about your wife hopefully gettin a job offer - you will then be able to move forward!

remember keep posting - this forum helped me so much - and still does!

enjoy the rest of your weekend, dont let them spoil it!

There was a great north-east comedian by the name of Bobby Thompson, there was a line he used which went like this.....(got to be done in a broad Geordie accent)
the provi man(creditors) were knocking on the door and his wife was flapping..."let 'em knock!" he says, "the paint last langer than the skin........"
without being flippant, I think this says it all when it comes to those harrassing calls and letters......
xx
It's nice to be back......

If they do Michael, just explain that you are at work and are not allowed to take personal calls and that you will call them back when you get home.

Take a name and telephone number of the person calling.

Call them back from home, explain that you are in the process of arranging a IVA and they are jepodising your job and thus your ability to pay them back in a IVA by calling you at work.

It worked for me with MBNA they did not call me at work ever again. Also get your IP to call them to have a word too.
