Hello and welcome! Best thing to do is to have a read around the various topics where you will get a feel of the 'common' problems as well as see a few success stories. And feel free to ask about any specific things that come to mind.

Welcome from me as well - most of us have been there and come out the other side so feel free to post anything you want to know.

Thank you!

I am 2 months into my IVA and most of my worry is in finding somewhere to live. I am quite young and still living with family but hoping to rent somewhere very soon or council housing. Has anyone had any luck in having an IVA and been offered council housing?

Thanks

Hello, I've just officially joined the forum after months of browsing. I've just completed my second annual review of my IVA with Creditfix. I found taking the initial commitment to be the scariest aspect of my journey so far. I'd never heard of an IVA before I started to address my debt problem. You'll find it becomes a way of life pretty quickly and the scary feelings will settle down when it becomes normal to you. Good luck on your journey.

Hi I am also with credit fix. It just feels like such a long way off but I am glad to have the stress off my shoulders now.

An IVA will not affect a council housing application. However, renting can be problematic ( but not impossible). Most letting agents will credit check, which you will fail --- some will still allow you to rent with an increased deposit / rent up front or a guarantor. Private landlords are less stringent.

Thanks! I’m just looking at renting in the next 6 months so hopefully I can find somewhere, I also have my partner who has no Iva and good credit so we can possible put it in his name until I am out of the iva.

I have been in my IVA for 2 years.

Last year had to rent somewhere and family split and didn't pass d credit check.

All different places are different so best to check. All can do is try and rent and see what they say.

Hi I’ve been in my Iva for around 4 months if any questions I’m happy to answer maybe have the same questions as one another. It’s good to have this forum as there so helpful on here. I’m also with Creditfix too.
