We all go through this when we set up our IVAs, I was very anxious at the start and had all sorts of thoughts running through my head with all the what ifs.

Hopefully everything will work out for you and so long as the creditors get more through the IVA than through BR I'm sure that it will go through ok.

Good luck.
We're willing to wipe the slate clean, give you a fresh start. All that we're asking in return is your cooperation.

Hey cheryl, don't panic, please wait for an expert to advise you. I do know that you will need another bank account where your salary will go into, your essential direct debits will come out of and also your IVA will come out of. It is worth doing this now ANYWAY, make sure you just open a basic account with no overdraft. Who do you bank with now and who are all your creditors? Viki X

Hey cheryl, I don't think any of them are linked to co-op and lots of the forum members have opened them and say how good they are. Log on to their website and you can either apply for a current account if your credit history isn't too bad yet or a cash-minder account which you must do over the phone. Your IP should send you a letter detailing everything you must do so they are probably going to be the best people to advise you. Good luck, Viki X

thank you for your support. as you can tell I'm very stressed, not sleeping, eating and have no one to share the stress. I am too embarrassed to tell my parents and just hope it gets approved so I can start to live again.

Hi Cheryl,

The way you are feeling right now is completely normal as most forum members would agree.
I used to sit up until the early hours worrying, which is how i came across this forum.
Im sure your proposal wouldnt be getting put forward if there wasnt a chance of acceptance. Try to keep yourself busy and keep your mind off it.
You will get all the help and support you need from this forum as everyone joins feeling exactly the same but you watch as time goes on their attitudes change and they go from feeling very low like you are now, to feeling very positive and ready to face anything.

Best of luck with your proposal and please keep us informed xxx

Hi Cheryl,

As you can already see, we're all here to support you and have all been / are going through the sick with worry stage. Its also normal not to have told close family, we feel embarrassed, yet what we are doing is actually responsible, facing up to the fact we have debt and arranging a legal plan to repay as much as possible.

Keep posting as it will help, thinking of you x

Hi Cheryl,

I can understand how you feel, I was also hiding some of mine from hubbie which was very stressful. It all came out and we took our first positive steps.

Our IVA was approved last month and the relief was enormous. Prior to that we had changed bank accounts and cancelled all direct debits or not made any payments on cards etc. Be prepared for phone calls and letters from debtors as soon as they realise they are not going to be getting a payment from you. DON'T GIVE IN and make any payments to them no matter how much they try to make you.

I am sure your IVA will go through ok.

Today was walking through the park and just burst into tears. I really feel on the edge with it all. I don't want to lose my house and am waiting to hear from Debt free Direct (who now own clear start) as to when the process will begin. Has anyone had dealings with Debt Free Direct?
