aarrggggggggghhhhhh...just when i thought life was sweet and going along nicely..when all things financial seem to be under control..something totally unseen comes right up out of the slime and bites me in the bum.!!!!

i logged on merrily to my online banking to check our christmas money for pressies and our trip to the northern regions for dads 80th to discover i have been the victim of fraud....i ask you ...FRAUD....how can i be got at...it only had 250.00 in the account..months of contingency savings and 236.00 was drawn out chicago USA.....on 27th nov...at an ATM

after hours of phones and "press one"....when she asked ig i or anyone who had access to my card had been to the USA..i almost jumped down the phone line and throttled her....CHANCE WOULD BE A FINE BL**DY THING..

then......i get told..my card is cancelled..it will be reported to police and fraud squad and a new card will be sent to me within 7-10 working days....but is there any mention of the money going back in....NAH...its up to the fraud squad...who will of course be in touch with me within 7-10 days.....

so ...i am absolutely pig sick..!!!!

rant over..going to find some chocolate now..even if i have to open every bl**dy number from the advent calendar i wrapped up to give to the wee lad who is unfortunate to be in my care today....

Oh dear mtl.
That is so awful and at this time of year. Its becoming so bad you are scared to use your card anywhere lately in case it gets cloned or something. I wish I could say something to make you feel better.
I hope the fraud squad sort it sooner rather than later and your money comes back soon.

MTL, how awful for you![:0][:(!]

Can you think of anywhere that you have used your card recently where it may have been cloned? Of course, it could be one of those card skimming machines they put in the cashpoints. You haven't got a clue these days who is watching and where.

I've had a credit card cloned in the past, and once I had written and told them (they insisted on a letter as well as a phone call), they refunded the money pretty much straight away with the proviso that if they found out I had been lying, it would come straight back off again!

I do hope they get you sorted out soon. It's bad enough at any time of year, but Christmas is worse.

You get stuck into that chocolate!

Oh Dear

I do hope you get your money back quickly MTL.

At the begining of October my stepduaghters purse was taken from her back pack, she had been to the cash point and withdrawn £10. They must have watched her do it and they withdrew the rest of her daily allowance, £390 and spent for than 400 pounds in a pet shop (yes I was thinking that too, a flippin pet shop?) She went to the police station to give a description of the girls, she got her money back the same week.

My card was cloned also, someone tried to spend 6K in argos, the bank phoned me and asked me if I had done it, I knew nothing about it. The fraud squad sorted it out as the card holder gave argos an address. I lost nothing.

Good luck with this.

Apparently using your card at a petrol station is a bad thing to do, you just never know where and when and who is next.

Get stuck into the chocolate, like Jan says.

They can put it on a blank card MTL. They only need the details from the magnetic strip, and if the details were gleaned from a cash point here, they will have your pin number as well.

Dont worry MTL you will get it back, as its been used in America its obvious its not you trying to get something for nothing. My daughters card was used in a very near by town and she was questioned by the police, so did you forget taking out the money Miss? They have to ask these things. Digital forensics will find the truth, well ish. You will get it back.

Dont let this spoil your day, it happens, unfortunately the world has its scumbags.... rise above them.... dont let them win.

[:0] Thats a terrible thing to happen to you MTL - life certainly is sent to try us!

I'm sure you'll get the money back, maybe write a strong worded letter to the bank...it may hurry things along.

I always joke, nobody could clone our card, as they'd have to put into our account before taking out...but this makes you stop and think.

There's a lot to be said for keeping your money under the mattress, however little you have left each month. Its as safe there as it is in the bank these days.

Thinking of you and hope tomorrow brings better news.

xx

Good luck getting this sorted out MTL. I agree with Julie that a strong letter to your bank might help.
