Hi we are about to start the process of an IVA and soon will be at the point when we are told not to pay our creditors anymore. I am dreading the letters and calls - should I write to them all and explain our situation? - and the fact that I hope and pray we will be in an IVA in a couple of months? - will this help - should I also call them and just let them know the situation?[:(!]

Hi again

If you have already appointed an insolvency practitioner to assist you in formulating your proposals to creditors, I would follow their advice in this regard.

However, writing to them is a good idea, and I am suprised your IP has not provided you with the format of a standard letter to issue to them.

Talk to your IP about getting some Letters of Authority sent to your creditors. These will explain to your creditors that your IP is now working on your behalf and that all correspondence should go through them.

Hi g.g.r.

I think the best solution is to talk with your IP and follow his advice. I’m sure he will direct you in the best way to solve any problems. As ThomasCharles said your IP should provide you with some Letters of Authority to issue to your creditors.

Michelle P.
