I see she is now the 'face' of a payday loan company! I find it quite shocking that someone who has had financial difficulties (and is still BR) would do this.
Totally agree!!! I read sometime ago that she was supposed to have been discharged and printed off her BR discharge certificate from the IS site but she hasn't!!
Why on earth does she lie about this? Why on earth be the face of a Payday loan company as well?
How funny - just today I delivered a teaching session to a group of young people about the perils of debt - particularly pday day loans.
Wonga have apparently got the worst apr now out the maain brands and what makes it worse is that in some parts of the UK they have started advertising in pop up shops next door to bookies/Gala bingos and near casinos !!
Started IVA 27th Feb 2012 - Due to complete 27th Jan 2018 !!
Full & Final submitted and accepted 30th March 2015, paid 10th April 2015 - 3 yrs 1 month into IVA
Completion Certificate received- 30th April 2015!!
I agree - one of my students this morning during my Maths session told me that he would not think twice about borrowing that money as the adverts look 'people friendly and very customer focussed'. I told him just stay away - £1000 can quickly turn to £17000+ over 12 months if you do not pay with a high apr !!!!!

Unfortunately I don't think you will ever stop it and it's not just limited to the TV. Where I live there are several local payday loan companies who are not national so don't advertise.
My daughter has used them - thankfully her husband has paid the debts off but she knows about our problems so cannot understand why she went down this route.
The payday loan companies have plenty of happy customers who dont fit the criteria for mainstream lending. Yes APRs are horrendous but at least these days the companies offering the loans are regulated.

Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.
Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.
I agree there is a place for these loans however there NEEDS to be a system to stop people taking multiple payday loans in a short space of time, I have come across people with over 10 current payday loans with repayments totalling more than they earn in a month
Totally agree Andy, but they arent going away so the only way to make them better is to push for tougher regulation still.
I know several people up here who have similar numbers of loans on the go. People on low incomes, who havent a hope in hell of repaying even the 1st loan.

I totally agree ...they have a place in society but limitations should exist ... personally I never got to that stage and seeked help via an IVA but I can understand how easy it is to keep going back....
