Went for the initial appointment with the Surgeon yesterday, it is going to be done around September time. Just got to get through till then, he did say not to have a bad attack before that otherwise it will mean the bigger op , at the moment I am scheduled for keyhole. Found another thing I cannot eat without getting a lot of pain, CHOCOLATE! I'm devistated

There is a 3 month wait but because we have a holiday booked for the beginning of September the surgeon wants to leave it till after then so I do not get any problems or infections in the wound sites while we are away. His parting shot to me was have a low fat holiday!

Thanks nursecrippen,
Just getting through one day at a time really, some days are more painful than others, I nearly went home from work yesterday because of the pain, but took tablets and worked through it, luckily it was an all afternoon meeting so I could just sit there LOL

Hi Peejayel, I'm having my gallbladder out on Friday.

I've had pain on and off for the last year or so but put it down to bad indigestion. However last bank holiday Sunday I was in so much pain I got hubby to take me to A & E where I wasn't only diagnosed with gallstones, but pancreatitis as well! Because of that they wanted to keep me in hospital until the operated on the Wednesday (if there was a slot) but, as the pain had subsided I persuaded them to let me go. I'm glad I did as I still haven't heard from them!

Thankfully I've got private healthcare with work so I'm booked into what sounds more like a hotel than a hospital on Friday.

Good luck Peejayel, I hope you can control the pain with diet.

Let me know how you get on Skippy, I can sympathise with the pain it is sometimes really bad, luckily at the longest it has lasted has been about 5 hours then it tends to die down,so at least each time it starts I know there is an end. Hope everything goes well, are you having keyhole?

I will do Peejayel. I'm getting very nervous now and I had a traumatic blood test (I'm needle phobic) this morning so I'll be glad when it's all over and I'm back home.

Yes, I'm having keyhole providing it all goes to plan.

The longest the pains had lasted prior to the last attack was a couple of hours, hence me thinking I had bad indigestion! When I'd been sick and was still in pain the following morning I knew I needed to do something. I wasn't shocked when they said I had gallstones but I was when they told me I had pancreatitis!

Thanks all. I had the op on Friday and went home the same night - I was originally going to stay in but the surgeon said if I really wanted to I could go home as it has gone well. Needless to say my own bed was more appealing than the hospital one, even if it was more like a hotel than a hospital!

The op wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. For some reason I have 5 incisions rather than 3 but the only one causing me major problems is the one on my belly button, presumably because every time I move it pulls. I was given co-coda old but so far I've only taken paracetamol - yes, I'm very stubborn! Yesterday I felt pretty good but today I haven't really done anything and don't feel too good - presumably the anaesthetic coming out of my system. I had a shower this morning and had to lie down afterwards as I was shattered!

Glad your on the road to recovery Skippy, has the pain gone I agree about my own bed I will / would be the same. I want updates frequently so I know what the recovery will be like LOL
I had the official letter from the surgeon (sent to my Drs and they sent me a copy) today confirming I am on the waiting list, so now it is a case of waiting and hoping it doesn't get worse.
