First of all apologies if this isn't in the right place!
My credit file from Equifax arrived yesterday and while I was looking through it I noticed that there is a Land Registry search showing. I had no idea what it was for, but when I checked the sold prices on Rightmove I realised that it was a search on our house. Does anyone know why this would have been done? I'm not on the mortgage so it shouldn't be anything to do with that, but I'm just a bit confused!
That is bizarre! I just thought that if your house was on the market or had been that maybe when a HIP was prepared it could show up? these things really confuse me, why on earth would a land Registry search be on your credit file.
It wouldn't have anything to do with a search that the OR does to see if you own any properties? Maybe when you changed your address it was checked on that address to make sure you didn't own it?! Just a thought... maybe a stoooopid one! ;o)
Was the search conducted before you were discharged from BR Skippy? Perhaps is was conducted to tie things up and to make sure you weren't hiding anything!
Actually there are more possibilities: Firstly the OR will have done (probably) 2 types of search - 1 on the property in which you live and the other to ascertain whether there is any property registered to you.
IIRC you entered an IVA before you went bankrupt? An LR search may well have been done by the IP prior to preparing the proposal. Certainly I do, as I would look extremely daft producing an IVA which said someone was renting when they actually owned the property. Also, it throws up any 2nd charges or charging orders some of which could be quite old and even forgotten about, so that's plausible as well.

It makes sense now! Yes, I was in an IVA before I went BR. We moved 8 months after I went BR and the search I found was on the new property - the previous sale prices match.
Thinking about this a bit more I think that your change of address notification to the OR will itself trigger a check by the OR just to make sure your name isn't on it - the timing suggests that to be the case.
