Had my fifth and final annual review with Pay Plan this afternoon. As with the previous reviews, I was dreading it but also as with the previous reviews, everything went fine. I like the fact that the figures are agreed there and then and about 5 minutes after the review ended, I received an e-mail from them with an attachment confirming the figures for me to print out, sign and return together with my last 3 months payslips and P60.
I had a good chat with my case officer who was very helpful and acknowledged how difficult an IVA can be (very true). The increases in petrol and household expenditure were accepted without question.
I have one more year to go, (12 months extension due to not being able to release equity), and I asked if there would be another view this time next year. I was told that there is no further review or correspondence and that after my final payment, (June 2013), I would simply receive my completion certificate between one and three months later subject to how quickly the creditor’s respond.
I still feel I’m in a hard slog but pleased that I’ve got past another milestone.

Fantastic news there sensible, good luck for the future on the homeward stretch as they say, i've just completed my income and expenditure on my excel folder that i have kept since having been in my IVA and things as you quite rightly state have indeed gone up, but at least when i get that letter from DFD i shall have it all to hand and in all honesty when this chapter of my life ends i shall continue to budget as i have been doing for the last 5 years, ensuring i know what my disposable income is and using it wisely, i've even tried it with my partner who seems to think that because he's weekly paid, this weeks pay, pays his mortgage and so on, never mind the fact that he has DD going out or he spends whatever during that week, you try and tell them lol. I can't wait for september to come and i know you shouldn't wish your life away but at the moment that is my focus, i just hope this damn PPI and VAT has sorted itself by then.
Om shanti, namesté, good luck to all who are embarking on the IVA journey, it isn't always an easy one but the outcome is the best.

IVA COMPLETED August 2012, received Completion certificate 18.4.13.

Thanks for all the responses. When I think back to this time 5 years ago, I could never see this point in time being reached. I don’t think anyone can deny that it’s difficult, but the ultimate goal is definitely worth it. Like orchid5, I know you shouldn’t wish your life away, but I’ll put my head down and get on with it for the next 14 months. Having the full support of my wife has really made the difference, and though we’ve had a few ups and downs, I’m sure we’ll come through this stronger than before. This forum has been an excellent source of advice and help. To have actual professionals such as Melanie Giles contributing, really makes this forum worthwhile and credible.

Well done to you Sensible - you really do have the end in sight now and what a life you have waiting for you after 14 months time. So glad you and your wife have been able to ride the storm together, support at home does make a lot of difference and hopefully once the IVa is complete you can get on and enjoy life together without the distraction of money worries.

A very inspiring post for many others out there who just can't imagine ever being free from debt.
