I have just rang GT yet again and have been promised a call by the end of the day. I have explained I have reported them and will take this matter further so I will see what happens.

Unfortunately grant thorton are crap, my final payment was made Feb2012, I was initially told it would take at the most 6 months I finally received my CC in sept 2013, they just kep fobbing me off was told last oct/nov that they had everything they needed and that it would be issued in a month or so, then Jan 2013 told they couldn't issue CC as there was the payment protection, I did ask why they waited 5/6 years to ask about this but that took another 6 month to sort it was a nightmare. I've never dealt with a more un customer friendly company, you ring your to to ring completions, so you ring another number the person in completion is less interested than the last person, and generally says there's a back log and not sure when the CC will be issued is maddening!!!!....
But it will end soon, I just kept emailing them about 1 a week as the call charges to GT were ridiculous!!

I am going to ring on a daily basis. We have completed all the ppi stuff so cannot think of any reason for a delay apart from the fact they are useless. I am also in the process of speaking to the press as I am disgusted that they get away with this! Strangely enough I thought customer care was a high priority these days ( I work in sales and would hate to think I treated my customer like this)!

I have had to call gt quite a few times they told me this month I had to wait 6 months for my cc I then decided to email them and they did respond they said as you know there has been a delay in passing your case to our closure team they have now added my case to the system and they said it will be treated as a priority due to the delays I have already experienced they said it usually takes 6 months however we aim to have this closed within 3 months. Chali email gt now and see what response you get.
Last payment made August 2012 Certificate of Completion recieved 15th of Novenber 2013.

Right all, I spoke to GT today to be told that there needs to be a variation meeting as our debt is apparently 10% higher than was declared! I am flabbergasted that this has taken 8 months after final payment to come to light and only as a result of demanding my certificate. What are the implications of this and I also know that we have been paying more than the bare minimum on our IVA and also were locked into it for 6 years not 5 after not being able to remortgage after 5 years! Would really appreciate some advice with what to do next as feel like I've been kicked in the stomach!

Oh no, what a nightmare!! Have you asked for the paperwork that shows how they have got to this figure? How can it be higher than declared? Surely all your original paperwork has been passed over to them which shows how your previous company came to the figures they did. Hopefully Karol will come online & pick up on this thread for you. It's unbelievable they way some companies treat their clients. It could be your original company that was at fault, but even so, when would GT have made you aware if this had you not been badgering them for your CC???

That's my point entirely! When would they have bothered to let me know? What I don't understand is how they (the creditors) could agree a figure in court that I am bound by for 6 years and then they say it's inaccurate?!?!?

I would definitely ask for a breakdown of payments etc., to see where the shortfall lies. I too wonder when they were actually going to inform you of this anomaly if you hadn't have enquire re your completion certificate. x

Exactly. I cannot express my contempt for GT and strongly advise anyone on this forum NOT to touch them with a barge pole. They are so unhelpful it beggars belief! I have had friends with IVAs who have had tremendous help with annual review and completions and we have had absolute zero from GT, they are, in my opinion, parasites!
