12 months to go ---- great to see you had an easy ride with your credit file -- but this is not always the case. If the crediutors post defaults every month ( and some do ) during the IVA, it will sit there for 6 years from the default date.

If you need do only one thing it is to check those default dates !!!
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

Thanks all, I will definately keep an eye on those defaults. Like you I don't intend to have credit again, much too frightened I'll slip back. And I've proved to myself we can get by on much less than we ever thought. Although it will be nice to have full food cupboard again.
Life after IVA is wonderful.

The last month seemed to be very long. Good luck to you, the feeling is great. Spent 15 minutes dancing round the living room until age took over and I had to sit down!

I have to admit the whole IVA I've just took one month at a time and it went by just fine, I've been counting down 3-2-1 and it's dragging. Once the New Year is here though it's only one payment! yipee

weren't there times when you felt totally helpless and desperate? I didn't tell my family or friends and it was hard to explain away our absence at various events and the difference in the way we were living. They seem to have got used to it now.

I told my youngest daughter (now 19) and feel this helped as she was very mature and understanding about it. Other than that no other family knows about our IVA. When I visit my family in Manchester it affects me the most as we can't join in meals out and always make some excuse to arrive late or leave early. It's been I won't deny it but it'll have been worth it.

Having Melanie as my IP and finding the forum before I entered the IVA both helped and the best thing Melanie ever sanctioned was a payment break that enabled me to buy the family flowers for my brother's funeral. I will never forget that and I've made up the arrears but that meant so much to me.

Sorry I left but we had a visitor. We had to lower our payments by half for 3 months as I was off work on sick leave but our IP was very good and understanding, then we had to extend for six months. But you're right it was all worth it now.

Well done, its funny how i never really wanted to post in this forum when in had years and not months to go and admire those that do. But it is wonderful to think i only have half a dozen pyts left to make. Reading these posts now lends a new purpose of knowing what to feel like once its over. Now i only wished i'd came in here earlier. It would have helped through the harder points over the last 5 years, keep it in perspective of the fact there is life after debts and iva's.
