Hi, Im currently 25 weeks pregnant and have an IVA with Debt Free Direct. I have rang and told them i am currently with child and i plan on taking maternity leave from December and returning to work in July (but first full wage will be August) they have told me to send a letter but im not sure on what i need to put in the letter? And when do i send it?

They werent very helpful when i called so im unsure to what put in the letter?

Sorry if i sound silly

They will likely send a new I&E for the period or maternity to see if payments need adjusted. It depends on how much maternity you receive versus your wages, tax credit entitlement, travel to and from work costs etc. It is not that difficult to do and I am sure they have done it countless times before.

You don't sound silly - they obviously haven't explained things to you clearly. Just write to them and tell them what you have told us about your maternity pay. Congratulations by the way!

Thanks for your replies, they did say that i could have a break on the payments while on maternity and it will be added at the end of IVA

If you do your sums you may not need a break which would avoid an extension. If you could afford a reduction of up to 15% for the duration of the maternity then your IVA would remain at the same term. Any larger a reduction would mean extra months on the end.
