Hi Forum Friends
Well i think it has been a month since my last post - we are doing well with our money although a bit hard this month, car service, MOT, new tyre, road tax and 4 yr old's joint birthday party!! To top this all off i had to go to the doctors and have had to pay £21.60 out on prescriptions! Basically well i dont know what to say or where to start but i am suffering from extremely low self esteem and mild depression. I am really struggling to get out of this low. It's not money or my immediate family, i just cant seem to snap out of the "poor me" attitude and it is ridiculous! So I started taking the medication but in my head I keep saying "why, it's just me feeling sorry for myself, pull yourself together" plus these tablets are not making me feel too good, nausea feeling and too spaced out for my liking, the doctor is going to reduce the dosage - but tablets to make me feel happier about myself.... really - there are people out there really ill and i used 40 mins of a GP's time slot crying over how i am feeling!!
Sorry xx

Hi Clairbare
Please don't ever feel like you wasted your GP's time as that's what they are there for. I've been in the 'crying seat' before and taken the pills to get through tough times and I am sure that with your GP's help you will get through, it certainly worked for me but they took about 3 weeks to get in my system properly and for the upset to ease.

We so often berate ourselves and say we should just buck our ideas up when in fact depression is an actual illness and one so hard to cope with as it has no physical symptoms. If you have a broken leg you would seek help yet when our brain chemistry is all over the place we seem to think it doesn't count when it certainly does.

Low self esteem and depression are very hard to deal with but pat yourself on the back for telling your GP - many don't have that much strength so you should be proud of that.

Hang on in there and know that you can get through this - keep talking about it and most of all know you are certainly not alone [:I] xx

Hi Clarebare,

Bless you, but being a sufferer of mental illness, I can totally understand were you are coming from.

Well done for going to the GP & no GP will think you ave wasted their time & going for that first appointment. Letting it all out n getting help is very positive for you recovering n getting back on top. The medication does take time to kick into your system & if it does continue to make you feel funny, you might not be on the right type.

Depression is a illness & a very serious one, if not treated it can lead to other mental health problems. Just because you cant see it, it does not mean its not real.
If you think of your brain as a mass of wires that are set in a certain way, when depression or other mental health problems come along, this wiring gets altered & changed. Sometimes it goes back on its own, but more often than not, it needs help getting back to how it should of been.

If your going to be on medication for a while, get a pre paid certificate which covers you for ALL medication for 3 months n cost just $28, you can get one on line.

Well done for getting the help, n dont be to hard on yourself, you have just started your IVA journey n the stress of all of this will be catching up with you, as well has the car not behaving so soon into your IVA.
Things will get easier & keep talking & keep on with your GP, & sorry if I waffled to much!
Final IVA payment made in April 2013, never ever thought we could do it or get through it but we did! X

I do hope you feel better soon, I have also been in that dark place and still am. As others have said depression is as much as an illness as a physical illness, would you feel guilty of spending time at the Drs if you had a physical illness? Again as others have said your GP would not think you have wasted their time.
If you don't feel better soon go back to see your Dr again you deserve to feel well.
Take Care

Jan

Hello to all members and reading some of the posts! I have come to the conclusion that we are "All in the same boat" and symptoms we all seem to share with regard to our individual debts?
I have just completed the 1st year of my IVA and i must admit not easy with limited funds and put a Massive strain on my marriage this is reflected in many ways. The trouble is i continue to blame myself for the financial mess we are in and it would be a great help to chat and share my feelings?
Thanks chiefy

Hope he recovers soon Clairebare, and hope you are better soon as well. I've sobbed my heart out at the doctors before now!

Lesley, glad your grandson is ok now.
