I have just checked my lloyds tsb account which I have transferred everything from, and lloyds tsb have taken a payment. I had previously cancelled direct debit, can they do this..

There will be no money going into this account, I had not used overdraft thinking maybe one less creditor as was only £100. Now this payment has been withdrawn, overdraft is there again.

How can I stop this happening next month, I have sent them a letter. Will they just keep doing this, hence increasing overdraft each time, thought there had been no phone calls!!

I was going to go in to bank on Wednesday to close account and take cards etc.. too late now with overdraft, won't let me now!!

If you have cancelled the direct debit it should not have been paid. You should be covered by the d/d guarantee. I would contact the bank to ensure that the d/d is cancelled and ask what you can do about the payment that has been paid out.
It's nice to be back......

Hi Angela, as Chris mentioned if you have proof of cancellation of the DD with the bank then there is no authority to pay and it will have to be reversed.

All the best

I cancelled direct debit on my online banking, so know proof really, other than no DDs on this account at all.

Don't know if it because is a lloyds tsb loan, if this would make a difference

That could make a difference - I wasn't allowed to cancel the DD with Natwest for my Natwest loan. I just had to leave it and let the bank charges add up.

I wasnt allowed to cancel my DD to my bank either, they just took it and made me overdrawn. I got a letter saying youre not allowed to cancel our loan repayment.

There should be a log of everything online so you could still have proof. It probably is the fact that it is the lloyds tsb loan d/d. We were with lloyds and had a loan and I did cancel the d/d. You will be best off contacting them still to find out for sure. You could just say that you're changing banks and that there will be no more money getting paid and that's why you cancelled it in the first place.(you'll not be technically lying!)

Hi there I cancelled all debits except the ones to the bank for the loan. The payment just went as normal and I never heard any more even though it took it over the overdraft, it just got included in the iva.

I've emailed Angela from Melanies team to let her know, and for advise what to do next.. maybe just letting them take the payment until IVA accepted will just have to happen.. just worried it will be looking favourably at one creditor over another!

With just starting down IVA route not sure how this works

It depends I didnt favour them as they took the money from their own account even though I had reached my overdraft. If it had been a debit from someone else they would have returned it. I never heard a thing after that anyway they stopped my online banking. I would as you say check with Melanie .

Hi
They will just form part of your IVA,they may have taken another payment by then but it will make little difference to the overall acceptance.
On one hand the loan is decreasing and on the other your overdarft is increasing.
Just let Melanie know.

Andam Davies

Now as this is being sorted out by Melanie my posting may be irrelevant but my main creditor was Lloyds TSB and I had two loans/overdraft and C.C. with them.
Once I started proceedings with my I.P. I cancelled both the direct debits online and sent three letters (Two for the loans and one for the C.C) to them explaining that I was entering into an IVA.
I received a phone call and was asked to make token payments until the IVA was agreed which I did and did not hear anything again.

Hope this helps
