Hi Everyone
I am a daily reader of this wonderful website but I have a problem that I wonder if you good people could advise on?
I am currently trying to get an IVA with Thomas Charles who have been fantastic. The lady there Ann Marie has been so helpful.
My situation at the moment is that I have provided them with all the paperwork they need from me but they need from me proof of my girlfriends earnings before things can proceed further. The problem with this is that she can get get a wageslip from her work due to her boss having a dispute with the accountant who does the wages for him and her boss is also very slow to get anything done like a letter of earnings. Is there anything else you can recomend I do as I really want to get things moving. My girlfriend knows what I am trying to do and has asked her boss for this paperwork but to no avail. I have already made one agreed payment to Thomas Charles with another one to follow soon. I have been able to deal with the creditiors phone calls so far but I cant keep putting them off forever so just looking for some advice really.

Hi Adam and welcome to the forum. Is your girlfriend's salary paid automatically into her bank account? If so would TC accept her bank statements? I'm sure one of the experts will be along to advise shortly.

Hello Skippy
I am afraid my girlfriend gets paid part in cash and part in a cheque so I am afraid the bank statement will not reflect this payment being made. Thomas Charles did ask me this question. It is really frustating having my life on hold because of someone not being able to get me paperwork I need. I guess I spoke to soon about the creditiors, Just has a really agressive guy from Citifinancial on the phone, I didnt give him any payment but he just would not listen to a word I said about an IVA proposal being prepared. All he kept saying was we will hand over your account to an agency and you could end up in court and we will refuse the IVA. I was tempted to say well if thats the case I will go bankrupt but I didnt him going off again. Really need to get this paperwork.

I really can't believe how unprofessional your girlfriend's boss is! Would it be possible for her to compose a letter and just get him to sign it? I don't know if TC would accept that.

With regard to Citibank, don't let him get to you. All I can suggest is that when they ring back you repeat the same information - I am proposing and IVA and I have been advised to make no payments to my creditors etc. Have you got a case reference from TC? I quoted that as well. It will take time for them to pass your debt on, and even longer before it can go to court.

You are in good hands with TC, and if you have any questions, please post on the forum as your experiences can help others.

Tell me about it. I guess I should give you a brief outline of why I come to be here in the first place as I seem to know so much about so many on this website. Well I had a lot of debt from my previous marriage and was living with my parents for a while and was paying back the debt as I didnt have to pay out a lot as they didnt want rent etc. Then I met my girlfriend and eventually moved in to a house together on a renting basis. This extra expense was not really a problem as we were both working and I could still meet the payments to my creditiors but things were fairly tight. Then my girlfriend lost her job and was unemployed for 6 months and this forced me to take loans with high interest payments and made me insolvent. I simply could not earn enough to cover my payments and our living expenses and indeed her monthly payments like HP on car ETC. Then I found this site when I was really down and didnt know where to turn. I contacted Thomas Charles and at the same time as applying for the IVA my girlfriend found work where she is at the moment but her wages only really cover her debts and living expenses. The months of unemployment have left me in a postion where I need an IVA as my repayments are more than I earn every month. I owe about £28K and feel that although an IVA will be hard in 5 years I could be debt free.

Hi Adam and welcome.
Does your girirlfriends boss have no record of what he pays her. Could he send a letter stating what she is paid, just a thought ,I dont know if that would be acceptable, but maybe worth asking.

Hello Aguise
I have just been told by Thomas Charles that a letter will be acceptable we just need proof of her income every month. I am going get a letter typed up and just ask my girlfriend to get him to sign it that way he dosent have to do anything other than put a signature to it. Thanks for the replys and advice. Will keep you posted of any developments/creditors meeting dates etc.
