Thank you & I know u understand where I'm coming from, the boys are starting to notice something is "wrong" with grandma now & I have to watch her & them together. I found her cornering my eldest a couple of days ago & he was a tad freaked out by it.

Its horrible watching a person you know change & disappear.

Not good Lyns. I can imagine your son being a bit worried by it so I do agree that you need to watch them together.

It must be awful for you Lyns.

It does get me down sometimes as I miss her, but mum has always had problems, which is why I have a close relationship with my dad, he's had alot to deal with over the years.
It's when I have my bad days that I find her hard to cope with, I'm usually ok. I'm very glad I managed to get all the medical help for mum & for my dads sanity aswell! Plus I can't be there for them like I normally am at the moment, but at least my dad can still come & rant at me!

Bless you- you're not having an easy time are you. Both my grandparents had alzheimers and although I was in my late teens I was scared stiff when I visited them, so to your sons it must be extra frightening.

Must be very hard for your dad.

I'm so glad that my parents are still compus mentis. Physically they aren't good at all but I can cope with that.

Its so hard dealing with dementia. FIL died at the age of 68 2 yrs ago. He was in the early stages of dementia (forgetful, getting lost, dropping things, very vague and the worst thing was the aggression) when he had a stroke. Taken into hospital very agitated, so much so that he had to have constant supervision and sllep on the floor. However, he banged his head on the wall, had a massive brain bleed and died. Very sad for MIL and hubby and kids x

Footiemad that is awful and very young. My MIl 67 I think and a mix of mental illness and dementia makes her unbearable at times but do realise it's not her fault.

I'm sorry to hear that footiemad, I'm thankful that my mum is to frail to lash out. Mums 70 & has mental health issues that have been going on longer than I've been alive, now dementia is setting & has had MS since before I was born. Mum was also an alcoholic throughout my life till about 18 months ago, she had her reasons & I understand them.

On a lighter note, Its my eldest 9th birthday tomorrow! And mine on Saturday, so as I seem to like ending up in hospital on family birthdays, let's see if me & bingo get through them ok! [:D]
We are not doing much, my son really wants pizza Delivered so we are getting dominos for tea! And it's a special treat as we have never done it before. [:I] A friend has made a football cake to help me out. Not many presents as he was desperate for FIFA 12 game at £40! So he's got that n a few bits. But he is going to be loaded as he has £50 coming in birthday money! And a new Liverpool kit with his name on from the MIL.

I love the idea of having Pizza delivered is a big event, my sons at that age was going out and having a knickerbocker glory, he has never forgotten me doing that with him for his 9th birthday and he's now 26.
Enjoy your birthday's.
