A couple of weeks ago, things got so bad that we decided that we had to do something. We have started the IVA process however something cropped up which has knocked me for six and its down to all my own stupidity.

I borrowed a sum of money from my old Dad to buy the wife a new car back in March. We are looking to sell the car at the moment, however, and thinking about it it should have been obvious to me, that the car is an asset and I cannot sell it and give my Dad the money back. He will have to become a creditor and vote in the IVA. Usually a good thing. Well my Dad is elderly and is the sole carer for my mum who has had 2 strokes. As far as he is concerned, we are a happy family, no debts and a small mortgage. I can never forgive myself if he has to find out the truth. He has enough worry on his plate without finding out what a complete and utter balls I have made of my life.

I now feel 100 time worse than the deepest sleepless nights of worry I had over the debts.

Sorry to pour out....

It might be possible to argue that the car actually belongs to your father on the grounds that he paid for it. How much is it worth?

I would not bother informing your dad.

In my IVA I owed my mother money, i told her about the IVA, but part of the IVA been accpeted was that money owed to my mother had to be sorted out after the 5 years in an IVA so all the other creditors could get maximum back, if i had not told my mother, she would of never found out.

I think it is better that we discuss this off-line Flush. I will get your details from Tina and we can have a chat directly.
