This does make me wonder? My mum and dad have never ever had credit. No loan, no credit card, no nothing! They pay nothing via direct debit because they don't 'trust' it. I actually really envy them. If they have ever had credit then I sure as hell know nothing about it.

BOL that is amazing, i just wish i had the courage to tell my parents. i am almost certain if i did they would be supportive, they always have been.
But i feel i would have dissapointed them also.
my parents have never taken credit, always saved and paid for everything they own, they don't even have a debit card.
if they knew how much i owe they would probably worry themselves into an early grave.

That's excellent news Luluj, I'm really pleased for you.

BOL, my mum was the same when I told her - I really thought she'd be mad at me but she was so supportive.

Mine would not be very happy at all - I only have to listen to them talking about people in debt and know that they wouldn't support me.

Lulu great week for you and BOL what a supportive Mum you have, I'd like to think I'd support my children not criticise them especially after being in this position. They've thrown some challenges at me throughout their lives and so far I've coped well although my eldest daughter does take me to the limit of my patience at times!
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

What a great week so far for both of you luluj and BoL, it`s nice to see some good news threads every now and then.
I haven`t told my parents about my debts and resultant IVA, I possibly would as I think Mum and Dad would be quite understanding, but as a family, we`ve had bigger issues to tackle than my money troubles over the last twelve months or so.

This is great news, congrats on your win! :)

The mortgage sounds promising is this your first purchase? Did you manage to get this from a high street lender?

HI Luluj, am i right in thinking you got your mortgage with your iva still showing on your credit file? what size deposit did you have?
My iva drops off my credit file next week but have been told i cant get a mortgage until 4-6 years after completing my iva! hoping its not true.
me and my partner have found a house and have raised a 15% deposit but are waiting until the iva leaves my file next week before we process our mortgage application. what mortgage company accepted you?

I think it must have been as Lulu I believe had a full and final accepted for her IVA not so long back.
