I hope all goes well when you meet with your manager, it must be really nerve racking. I suppose one of the reasons I opted for an iva was so no one had to know - no friends and family and neighbours to see it in the paper and didn.t need to tell my employers as my tax code would not change.
I think in the current times employers would be supportive of bankruptcy and especially if it does not affect your work. You will probably find they will admire your honesty and thank you for being up front with them.
It has been a tough time for you and I hope you are on the way to making your decision x
Be positive & look after yourself, there are more important things in life than debts....
I am sure that you will them very supportive. My daughter-in-law is a Senior Personnel Officer for a large company here in South Wales, and she tells me that the IPD are really pushing the point to employers that they need to be understanding and sympathetic about employees with debt problems.
And as Emma says - an IVA is a far more private way of dealing with your financial difficulties.
Well I went to see the HR manager and he was very very supportive and not judgemental at all. He was concerned about my welfare etc. So please I did it now and I know that my job is 100% secure and wont affect any promotions
Hi helpIVA i'm so pleased that your employer was supportive etc that must be a great weight off your mind, i know mine was although i only told my line manager as it hasn't had any affect on my working abilities. Good luck with whatever you chose to do, i'm sure you will have peace of mind soon.
15 down, 45 to go
Om shanti, namesté, good luck to all who are embarking on the IVA journey, it isn't always an easy one but the outcome is the best.
IVA COMPLETED August 2012, received Completion certificate 18.4.13.
Wow that must have been scary but it was a good outcome.
We made the first phonecall some 3 months ago and having made it we both found it such a relief that the first steps in addressing our problem had been taken.
Melanie and her team have been excellent and them, together with the people on this forum have helped us along the way and you get a feeling that you are amongst friends.
Good luck and keep us posted.
Well now the w/end is here it is time to make that final choice in which direction I will go. I spoke to my two best friends last night who did kind of know of the problem but not to the full extent and were both fantastic. Next is my parents and boyfriend who do not know anything about the mess I am in. I am going to speak to my boy friend on Sunday, I hope he understands but I am preparing myself for the worst. I will then speak to my parents and make a formal decision
Your boyfriend may surprise you, dont give up hope. Remember, the main thing here is that your are making steps to get your life back on track again.
Good luck xxx
I was really scared to tell my boyfriend and my parents, I thought they would be dissapointed but my parents were great and told me they were proud that I was taking a responsible decision and had acknowledged I needed help. My boyfriend basically said 'no problem, what can i do to help' I hope it all goes as well for you. Good luck.
Think I have decided to go for BR, I have no assets and it will be over quicker. I was planning on telling my b/f family yesterday but we had such a prefect w/end I could not do it. I am going to tell my b/f tonight BUT I can’t see a good time or how I can tell my parents. I feel ill
